Bad Guy BUYER BEWARE! horrible after sales service from thegeckokid.com

Enigma

I just wanted to say one of the main things some people are upset about is she states she is a first time buyer I no for a fact she didn't tell jill I looked through all her communications since she was contacted in february I also no jill held the gecko for her for over a month. Jill also asked her to wait a week and then get back to her but as you can see that didn't happen I am sure that had something to do with her decision for exchange only. Someone jumped the gun as stated in previous threads.

The customer should have maybe done a little more research on this kind of gecko, especially since she apparently had over a month to do so.
The gecko arrives and then began to display symptoms.
The buyer became upset, thinking the gecko was ill.
The seller told the buyer it was not an illness, and asked the buyer to just let the critter settle in.
The buyer was too upset, and came here.
The seller looks like she punished her buyer for not waiting by telling her there would be no refund, it would be exchange only.

This could be a case study for many sellers. Not that they sell geckos, but that through some unforeseen chain of evens their buyer becomes upset and both parties feel that they are right, and indeed both parties have a piece of the truth by the tail.
Here, the situation appears like it could have been saved by some concessions, but has now escalated.
How can it be de-escalated, do you think?

I dont no the answer to that I previously bought a gecko from her in december so when I had seen this post I wrote her to notify her of this thread. She is no longer in the buisness anymore she sold out in November to another company she still has a small collection of her nice stuff she said its to hard to completly stop she loves geckos.

She is no longer in the buisness anymore she sold out in November to another company .

If she sold out in November, how did this transaction happen? Even with a one month hold, it doesn't add up.
Why is she not here explaining all this herself?

You no what its not my business I am just someone wanting to stand up for someone I had a good transaction with . I am leaving this thread.
good bye

Yeah right! First, you read all the emails on the subject then it isn't any of your business. You are full of it!

So "kid g" has nothing to do with gecko kid.

You see when people lie they seem to always recycle real information into their lies.

Like the fact that your registered email address with this site is virtually the same for the contact page on the gecko kid site.

Nice catch! Looks like this seller went from standing on principal, to kicking up some :icon_bs:. Hardly seems like the actions of someone that truly believes she's not at fault.

For those that are saying that the whole issue is the buyer's lack of research, that may be a hard line to take with someone whose life doesn't revolve around reptiles. It's easy, for me, at least, to see how someone new to herps could not realize that the inbreeding necessary to create a certain pattern/color mutation could also cause neurological issues. I mean, unless you already know better, it'd be easy to think that one leo's care should be the same as that of any other.

Considering the massive difference in grammar between the emails with Jill and kidg, I'm assuming kidg is actually one of Jill's kids? I had to read that post three times to make any sense out of it.

Regardless, kidg, get your mom or legal guardian to sign on here. She's an adult, she can speak for herself.

Vanessa, could it bebe the seller just trying to look like someone else? Kidg knew how to spell 'transaction' and 'business'.

Kidg signed his name as Dill, which I assume is short for Dilyn, the name of Jil's son. I honestly can't imagine why Jil would come on here acting so immaturely after the multitude of posts that didn't exactly blame her for what happened. While we were of mixed minds about her decision not to refund the gecko, at least we presented arguments why an enigma exhibited a disorder would not void a health guarantee.

I think this is the case of a teenage or preteen boy meddling in the affairs of dragons.

I second this notion. What is the first thing we all stress to buyers, especially new ones, know how to take care of them. A Google search on leopard gecko care brought up some very good sites regarding Leopard gecko care. I didn't read through them word for word but scanning each of the sites that came up on page one of the search revealed no mention of the issues with enigmas. Likewise searches for leopard gecko health problems and leopard gecko health issues failed to illicit any mention of the issues with the enigmas. Several sites however, did mention the issue when I searched specifically for enigma leopard geckos.

Now if a potential new leopard gecko owner was going to do their research on leopard gecko care without knowing anything about the various morphs it is very possible, and I would say highly likely that they could get an incredibly comprehensive education on the care of the leopard geckos without ever having been made aware of the issue. If they came a cross a picture of an enigma in a morph guide and it didn't mention the issue (I'm guess a good many don't since many just show pictures) why would they have any reason to suspect that any one particular morph would be any different in care than any other.

Assuming a buyer did thorough research on the care of of leopard geckos I don't see how their failure to know about the enigma issue could be considered their fault. I think it would be in every seller of enigmas (or spider balls or anything similar) interest to make sure that their customers were aware the potential issues with these animals. I do not believe it is common knowledge even withing the reptile industry. I can't say for sure when I first learned of these issues but I know that if I had the crazy idea to spend the kind of money these morphs were going for when they first came out there is a good chance I would have been totally surprised to get a gecko that was spinning in circles. I would not have been happy and I would not consider it a healthy animal. A neurological problem may not be considered a health issue in the same way MBD or parasites or impaction are but it is not normal. Even if all enigmas have it I don't consider it normal. You wouldn't consider selling a gecko with 3 legs without pointing out the defect even if the gecko is perfectly healthy. I consider the enigma issue a defect and I think it should be pointed out.
