I am possibly going to be taking in a Crested Gecko as a rescue. I know they are climbers and should be in like a rainforest set up...I had a Veiled Chameleon that had some of the same requiremets. My question is...I have a 60gallon mesh vivarium and was wondering if the would be ok to house a Crested. I know they climb and wasn't sure if the mesh would be ok for that. I have really only had Leo's and Veileds, but I was asked if I would take this Crested. Any info would be helpful

I attached a pic of the viv to help give a better idea of how it looks (I was keeping my Leo's in it for now until my 29 gallon long aquarium gets here)

Yeah, IMO that will work out fine, just make sure that it doesn't get any drafts of cold or really hot air (watch for doorways, windows, vents, etc.) Other than that, that should be great for him/her because if that tank is the one that I am thinking of, that is pretty big for a crested, so he/she should be happy. :hehe:

Your going to have a good time trying to find him if you have enough cage deco. They love hiding spots. I purchased a 39 gallon (i think, i know its in the 30 range) mesh vivarium for my cresteds. Sometimes, they would hide behind one of the plant leaves SO well, i thought they escaped cause i couldnt find them.

Thanks for the response. It is pretty big! I have a pic in another one of my posts on here...here's the site

I have also considered going to the local hardware store and having them cut me 3 peices of plexi-glass to put on three sides (the 2 sides and the back) to help with the drafts. I am also going to have it up on a table. I'm hoping it works! I'm excited and nervous! can't wait.
