In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have a pair of lined and a pair of gold dust day geckos. They are temporarily in a 10 gal tank together, but will soon be moved to a bigger set up.

My question is this, if I leave the two pairs in a cage together, will they cross breed? Has anyone had any dealings with such a thing? Right now they are pretty much hanging out in their respective pairs, but just wondering?

Thanks for any help on this subject.

Paula

The gold dust day gecko (Phelsuma laticauda) is from Madagasacar and the Coromos Islands. They need a basking light as they are diurnal. They grow to about 3-5" in length. They will eat fruit baby food as well as crickets.

I've added a pix of a white lined gecko (Gekko vittata). Is this your gecko?

If it is, it can grow to 8 or 9 inches in length. They come from various islands that make up Indonesia. This gecko is nocturnal and doesn't need a basking light.

The two geckoes can't inbreed (if I got the second gecko right) but I wouldn't house them together because of the different needs of both geckoes.

P.S. I met you at the St. Robert show and bought some lovebird pairs and a single female from you. They are doing great BTW. The single female is paired with a creamino male and they have 5 eggs. Fingers crossed for babies.

Karen,

Glad to hear the birds are doing good for you!

Actually, I have a pair of the white lined geckos...but what I am talking about it is 2 different types of day geckos. They are both about the same size...but coloration is different. The lined days are green on top with a stripe of white along the sides and onto the belly.

Will try and find a pic to post of it.

Oops I didn't read you post correctly. You did say two species of days together.

Okay, if you can get the scientific name of the other gecko and it starts with phelsuma then they are closely related and can inbreed. I think all the day geckoes are phelsuma, though.

Hope this helps.
