    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I posted this by mistake under the "classifieds" section. I should have done it here:

I have been away from the kingsnake "hobby" for a long time (since the middle 90's) so I have not been paying much attention to what is available, although I do see that prices have come down big-time. Can anyone please let me know what is the status of California mountain kingsnake in the hobby? I cannot find a single one for sale on the internet. Why have they become so scarce in the hobby? Does anyone sell/breed them anymore?

Thanks

They occasionally are seen on kingsnake.com

One of the issues is that they are not legal to sell in any state where they are native, even from captive propogation. In California, no more than 1 may be collected from the wild, so most breeding programs in California are scientific permit programs, which often do not share with hobbyists.

Outside of California/Oregon/Washington - there are a few breeders that are legal, but not very many. I have an unconfirmed suspicion there are problems with productivity resulting from inbreeding since it is very difficult to bring in fresh blood and there aren't that many breeders.

Hopefully (wishful thinking) the law in CA will change allowing for commercial propogation in the state and a bag limit of two (or four) wild caught to allow captive stock to be built.
