In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

California Silkworms Inquiry

California silkworms

I ordered some very recently. They are always packed extremely well and usually none of the silkwomrs die on the way. I would recomend them, they sell a good product and ship within the timeframe they anounce.

I got some in

about a week ago. It was just small, 100 ct. california silkworm shipment but they arrived fine and definitely a good overcount.

We palced an order on the 7th (sunday) and it is now friday. Our AM deliveries have come and gone, and our order has still not arrived. No email confirmation, no correspondence whatsoever.

Thier website states that any orders placed between monday and wednesday ship same day if made by 10am. Since we ordered sunday ours should have had no problem shipping monday, tuesday at the very latest. They use usps priority shipping, which takes anywhere from 1-3 days. Welp, thats passed. No silkworms. They also state they issue notification including tracking when they ship, well we received no such notification, therefore we can only conclude nothing has shipped.

Basically, they have not adhered to ANY part of thier terms whatsoever.

This is our first time ordering from California Silkworms, and unless something is done to rectify our current situation and they foot the bill to ship nextday and get these feeders here which are already grossly late, to make up for thier errors, this will be the last time we order from them. Period.

If it got out a day late (Tuesday) then with the holiday yesterday it probably won't arrive until Saturday via USPS. We ship crickets via USPS and we're still waiting for Tuesdays shipments to land on the east coast (we're on the west coast as well as California Silkworms).

With USPS giving you a tracking number is about useless unless the package gets lost. Their tracking system just shows about NO details on the shipment, just that it was shipped. I hate shipping USPS but it's the only way to be even slightly competitive on bug shipments coast to coast.

We will find out then won't we... :D

Still, SOME type of correspondence would have been nice, and a notification once they shipped, as they stated they provided, was never done.

Hopefully there is not a problem.... :(

If you have not heard from them yet, feel free to try an contact them as they seem to be getting busier and busier and it may have just been an oversight do to growing pains.

I ordered 1000 Eggs and some food awhile short while back. Within 24 hours I was sent an email letting me know that they we're out of eggs and would have more on the upcoming Monday.
I appriciated the communications and told them "Not a problem and Thank You for the FYI". I was also told for the delay a would send a few (can't remember the actual live silkworms.

When the eggs and food arrived there was a container with live Silkworms and more than promised. My only issue was their was no invoice or instructions/care sheet for the eggs or how to prepare the powdered food. This might just be me as I am big into documentation from records to detailed instructions.

My final word: I would and will be ordering from them again in the future. Their Chameleon and Silkworm sites are very informative although the jump from their silkworm site to the actual ordering site is a bit strange the 1st time round.

My 2 Cents,
Mike Frericks

They emailed us back and stated that no shipment went out due to the holiday on thursday, which is completely understandable.

What disturbs me is that no one bothered to contact us to confirm our order, let alone inform us that it would not ship until the following week. Had we been informed, there would be no issues.

We requested a full refund and we will take our business to a supplier that can correspond inportant information regarding shipment of products purchaed in a timley fasion.

Try Silkworm farm...

I've used www.silkwormfarm.com a few times and everytime the shipments have gone down very smooth and the silks I recieved were in very good condition with always a good amount of overcount. I have never used Ca Silkworms so I can't comment on their service or product but Joe at Silkworm Farm I have never had a problem with and has always come through with great product.

Good luck,
Matt Jillson

Nothing but postive experiences!

I've ordered from California Silkworms a few times and don't have any complaints about the silkworms and roaches I recieved. I've always gotten am email when they shipped and nice overcounts. If you do a search they have a pretty good reputation with there chameleons too.

I just checked out Silkworm Farm.com. I find the prices pretty high.
I have placed multiple order with California Silkworms, and have been more than pleased.
I get the USPS notification that a click and ship order was placed, and even being on the extreme East Coast, I have had no problems receiving orders.
I like the packing, I like the service, and the prices.
I also was contacted by them with notification that a certain size of worm was out of stock.
I would order from them again. Oh wait...
I already have.
Also...
If they are using USPS delivery confirmation, should'nt the tracking number should tell you if it was accepted for shipping, when it was processed, when it was received at your local PO, and when it was delivered?

Yeah, I've seen good things about them, but was disturbed with the lack of notification. When you send someone money and your desired order is not going to ship as advertised you should be informed. You should not have to hunt an answer down yourself. We should have been notified shortly after payment was made and told that our order would not ship as specified in thier terms due to the upcoming holiday. It would have been fine with us, really! But we plan on spending a GREAT deal of money with a silkworm supplier for various projects we are looking to offer an alternative feed\nutrition source. I'd rather deal with someone who will take the initiative to tell us these things without being prompted. I guess you can rack it up to "first impressions"...

I usually stick with them unless given a good reason not too. There was no excuse for the failure in correspondence. Therefore I'll look elsewhere.... As for quality of product, I cannot judge. I'm sure California Silkworms does an excellent job and offers an excellent product, especially from the reviews I have read. Unfortunately they dropped the ball with us..... 'nuff said.

I have used silkwormfarm.com since they started, and have always been impressed. I've got worms from other suppliers and all that, bit nobody has been able to handle large orders into the thousands. I recently got 8,000 silkworms from SWF.com and there was a nice OVERcount on that order.... I was very impressed and the worms were exactly the size I wanted. Nobody else can supply large orders like that, and nobody can touch the prices on an order like that. Sure, CASilks has low prices on 100 or 200, but try getting 8,000 from them and I think it's safe to say he would [**censored**] his pants.

I agree with Tyler...

I've ordered Silks into the thousands myself and there was never a moment of hesitation, to run and make sure he can cover the order, on Joe's (silkwormfarm.com) end. Just a simple, "Ok, they will be shipped tomorrow". While I have seen Joe's prices slightly higher I know if you are a regular weekly/bi-weekly customer he will do as good and better in most cases on price versus Ca. Silkworms. I also know that when you get into the 5000+ orders his prices are automatically better for anyone, regular customer or not - so there is something to say about that.

A unfounded personal attack!!!!!!!!

Top Shelf, SHAME ON YOU for starting this thread! Maybe you
can tell the readers of this thread the FACTS, but I would not
hold my breath! You posted this thread at 5:27a.m. on Friday.
Did you contact California Silkworms by either phone or e-mail
before Friday? I believe the answer is NO. Just because you
ordered on Sunday, did not mean that your order would be
shipped on Monday. Did it ever occur to you that other people had
ordered before you. There were several people who placed their
orders before you did. Because you are in a three day shipping
location, California Silkworms did not ship your order on Tuesday
because of the Veterans Day Holiday. The fact is that you e-mailed John EARLY on Friday morning (before his stated business
hours). I think the exact time of the e-mail was 5:30a.m. PST.
You then called California Silkworms and left a message. You
requested a refund, and your money was refunded by 10:00a.m.
PST. I know that this is a unfounded personal attack, and I
invite everyone who is reading this thread to do their own detective work. First, there is a classified thread on Fauna that
was posted by Matt Jillison, you responded to " I have money
in hand". What does that prove? It proves your connection to
Matt Jillison. For anyone wanting to know what lengths Matt Jillison
and Tyler Stewart of Bluebeast Reptile will do to hurt California Silkworms, please go read the
thread titled, Ivan Alfonso, Matt Jillison and Jim of the Chameleon
Company unethical business practices. After you read that, then
you can go to the thread titled, Aline Reptiles Good Guys. Most people will get the picture. ENVY AND GREED!!!!!!!! Meanwhile,
Matt and Tyler are trying to drum up business for another silkworm business. What does it say for the other silkworm company, if they have their customers resort to these tactics to
sell their products? What is SO BOGUS about this thread is that
it was posted as a inquiry. I don't believe that for ONE SECOND!
It was posted to intentionally TRY to hurt California Silkworms
business. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Top Shelf Exotic
used to be Elite Exotics? If so, then the previous owners have
purchased from California Silkworms before. Matt, I am the REAL
person whom your hatred has no bounds. California Silkworms
is only a target because ME! By the way Top Shelf, the BOI rules
state that PROOF should be posted. You were quick to post that
you were not satisfied, but it is Saturday afternoon, Nov, 13th, and you have not posted the fact that YOUR MONEY WAS REFUNDED! You people are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO pathetic!
By the way, everytime one of you makes these ridiculous posts,
it only drives more people to buy from your competition. Matt,
I believe that Web Slave has already spanked your hand once for
inappropriate advertising. WHEN WILL YOU PEOPLE LEARN??????????

Excuse me? first of all, learn how to form a sentance, and then, try a paragraph. It works wonders.

Second of all, CONNECTION with Matt? We actually declined to purchase the chameleon he had up for sale, we found a better deal. Theres no connection, no conspiracy, no nothing. Nice try.

Thirdly, I stated the exact facts of the transaction, and it is completley true that California silkworms did NOTHING to notify us that our order would not ship within thier stated terms. We simply moved on.

Get a clue, and learn how to type. That gave me a headache! lol

And sorry, we have always been Top Shelf Exotics. We have never operated under any other business or name.

As for your issues with Mr. Jillison, leave us out of them. We want no part of your paranoid accusations or your issues with this individual. Thank You.

We never stated that they stole anything from us or neglected to refund any moneys. Please learn how to read. We recieved a refund, we were given the option to receive our order or money, we decided to go with the refund and deal with a company who can actually correspond important information when required. When a company cannot ship within its terms, for whatever reasons, they are obligated to inform thier customer. We were never informed of any shipping conditions outside of thier terms, and therefore chose to deal with someone else. We did not make any accusations or judgements of quality of product whatsoever. Again, I urge you to READ before rambling like a maniac :)

Our original inquiry was to see peoples experiences with this company since we had placed an order and heard nothing about it and received no product. And please, if you choose to respond, try to make it atleast somewhat comprehendable. Thank you.

And on another sidenote.... (I had not being to ammend previous posts!)

We had not determined whom to order with and we were actually thinking about giving Cali Silkworms another shot at our business after the new week arrived. They can thank your incoherent ramblings for deciding against them. You are a very troubled and irate individual. I suggest taking some sort of medication, and dealing with your personal issues with this Mr. Jillison in another thread. You are only making Cali Silkworms look bad, our issue was with poor correspondence, now you are turning it into something much more. Congrats, be proud. I'm sure they are!

Maybe you should learn how to spell!

Give me a BREAK! You should not be giving me grammar lessons
when you can't spell sentence! As far as your connection with
Matt goes, I DON'T BUY IT! Remember he is in partnership with
The Chameleon Company! I don't care how you spin it. This
is the No Spin Zone. Did you get your refund? How come you
have not posted it? Nevermind, point made!
