    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Can someone who has done a rack help me out with some questions?

So I want to make my own rack and I am comfortable with how to put it together now. My plan is to make a 32qt. tub rack that is 5 tubs tall made out of Melamine. I know Home Depot sells Melamine in 8'x4' sheets and from my understanding I can get all my boards out of a single sheet(correct me if I am wrong here). Alright so hopefully up to this point I make sense.

I copied the measurements from a rack I found online(24 1/8 W x 17D x 36H) so in theory I know all the lengths for the boards. My first/main problem comes in when I get Home Depot to cut the boards. Does anyone know if I can just give them all the measurements for each separate board or do I have to give them cut by cut instructions(yikes)?

The other concern I have is I don't know what the dimensions of the back would be. Most don't have a full back if I remember right and just have two thin pieces run up the back. How wide should those be?

If you are counting on the cuts from Home Depot to be square and true you may end up sadly disappointed. They could end up with quite a bit of variability in length/width and square.

I'd see if you can find a cabinet maker/carpenter in your area that will make the rack for you, or at least cut the material for you to put together yourself.
 
Regarding the piece dimensions. If the tub you are going to use fits within the 24 1/8" x 17", you'd want to have them cut 6 pieces that size, now for the sides you'd have to take into account the thickness of material used. So if the material is 3/4" that would be .75 x 6 pieces, so 4 1/2" to cover the material thickness. Now you need to know how tall each tub is, and incorporate your gap for the tubs. Once you know the tub height plus gap, you need to multiply that by 5, add that total to the 4 1/2" and that is how tall you'd have the sides cut with the 24 1/8" width.

For the back going solid back or split back is up to you. You'd have to decide how you want to go. You will use the same height total you came up for the sides, plus whichever width you want to go with. If you go with solid back, you will want to remember, to get the proper back width you need to add 1 1/2" to the width of the shelf to provide enough material to attach it to the side pieces along with each shelf level.
