    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

caneexotics has 2 ads for hatchling and adult star tortoises running it sure looks like a scam to me. any one else with any info.

Where are the ads posted?
Can you post a screen print?
What about the ads make you think they are a scammer?
 
The ads are posted in the classifieds turtles & tortoises section of this site. The wording of the ads and their replies are typical of nigerian scammers.
 
I think you may be right. Most scammers use the USD amount in the payment description and the very low starting bid price with no pics is another flag.
Send a PM to Dennis. He'll be able to tell and if it is a scammer. If it is, he'll ban him and yank the ad.
 
I contacted him about his adult albino ball pythons. I asked for pictures and he sent me pics of baby albinos, so I just stopped all contact, he could not properly represent his animals so I want nothing to do with him. He also double e-mailed me with all his replies which I found annoying.
 
I contacted the guy, he said he is in Washington DC, and has 20 or so adults.
After I wrote him back that I take them and a friend would come or meet him some where to pick the animals up and pay CASH, he wrote me back he would only ship or I have to come personally.
No prove but I am pretty sure he is a scammer, no way a legitimate guy would refuse cash, I could understand the pickup on his place with a stranger but not meeting some where in public?

Was the guy's Email account through either yahoo or hotmail? Not conclusive in itself but that would definitely be an additional indicator of a scam

Yup. Nigerian IP. Banned and all ads deleted.

Keep the reports coming. Only the users here are gonna catch these guys. We cant keep up with all the ads but we will put a stop to them if we are made aware of them.
