In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Can't seem to reply in my own threads...

But there are also people that don't want to necessarily be "bigger breeders". They do it for the love of the hobby more then to make a real business out of it.

That may be so, but how do you think most of the bigger breeders started out in this business? I would venture to say that nearly all of them started with the love of the hobby. Actually, I would say it is likely quite rare that someone get into this with only $$ in their eyes and be successful at it.

Fact of the matter is, big or small, if someone wants to sell off the animals they produce, unless someone knows about them, they will not have as easy of a job doing so as someone who does make themselves very visible. Unless, of course, you are willing to stay low profile and wait 10 years or so for word of mouth to have an appreciable effect.

Selling is a competitive exercise, and quite often the returns will be directly proportional to the time, effort, and expense expended in that pursuit.

Then why complain about folks doing what it takes to make the pro breeder arena if that is what THEY want. Just because the hobbiest have no desire to go pro doesn't mean they should b**ch and moan because someone else has the desire and drive to try and make it.

True that.

Then why are you complaining about folks keeping their ads in front of people. They are putting in the time and effort to make sure they are seen.

and this is why I do not post on these things.......everyone just gets attacked for stating their opinions....whatever just keep posting 100 corn snake ads a day
Bye

Why are counter-opinions or disagreements considered attacks? Is it "flaming" to point out to someone the flaw in their logic? :shrug01: No. No one has been rude or mean or smeared your character because of your opinion. They've simply disagreed and/or pointed out elements of your argument that don't make sense.

Good luck finding a world where you can express an opinion without being "attacked" for it. It would probably be a very lonely place.

I wouldnt say Kevin attacked him, but from my POV he came off a lil rude. Stephen wasnt bi***in and moaning, just stating an observation of people finding a loop hole and reposting. He didnt know that this was being encouraged by the staff here as long as the old ad is deleted. He was informed and was acknowledging his understanding. Dont get me wrong I respect Kevin and we post on alot of the same ads, but I did think he may have been a lil harsh in this case, especially since Stephen has been on here a whole 2 months.

I have NEVER posted 100 corn snake ads a day... and I dont plan on starting now.

How is it because I have a different opinion from a sellers point of view Im attacking :shrug01:

Maybe I was a lil harsh... but look at it from another perspective. It's the folks that have been complaining to Rich and staff about the same ads showing up over and over that got all this started. And here he is complaining about the same ads being on the front page over and over.. then he states.... if someone wanted them they would have already been bought.

Take it for what its worth.... IMO its this kind of mindset that caused all these changes to begin with. From my perspective.... the ones doing the complaining are the same ones that are not willing to spend time working their ads... and because they are not willing to put in the time or effort they want to kneecap those of us that do.

Now... I have to go reformat my ads so I can get them reposted. The old ones had links to site pages that no longer exist. Gotta love site updates.... but its all part of advertising I guess.

Here is the part that caught my attention... so please tell me how I should take it.

the problem is not with bumping now, everytime I get on here(which is a few times a day), there are multiple people(not going to name names), that just post their ads over and over again to keep them on the front page and to get views. any way to fix this problem now? They just repost them over and over...

That is true, I see the point now, it just irks me sometimes seeing the same posts always up there lol.

Yea I do see your point really, but when I see the same ads, I aslo cant help but thinking, "If someone really wanted them, they wouldve been bought by now."

Maybe Im wrong... and if I am... I am man enough to apologize to sfconstrictors.

And i dont want any harsh feeling either, heck about 2 weeks ago I was planning on buying some corns from you. lol. And im not saying dont post your opinions on here, I thought it just came off harsh. I do try to works on my ads as best I can, but I dont have much to sell all I have is a boa to sell right now. lol.
Im young, and trying to soak up all of the information that I can get. I was just stating there was a loophole, but then from a different perspective, I see that this really just is agressive advertising.
I dont want any harsh feelings, and Ive said it before and will say it again, IMHO, this is the best site for reptiles out there, hands down, has already helped me so much, and I apoligize if I offended anybody at all.

I tend to agree that there should be a limit on number of ads someone is allowed to post per day. 3 or maybe 5 at the most. I'm not gonna complain though, I love this site and respect the owner and mods and the rules. I'm not afraid to post my opinion though ;-)

I think that reposting the same ads day after day gives off a vibe of desperation on the seller's part. I've been active in the online part of this business from the beginning and have never had a need to repost the same ads over and over. Please no one take offense (I don't mean it to be offensive!), it's just a different viewpoint.

I tend to dissagree. Does that make any business that has an active marketing campaign desperate? I think it means they are doing what needs to be done to keep their product in front of viewers and thus improving the probability of a sale.

Otherwise.... why would some of the big names in the product world (not necessarily herps) spend boookooos of money to advertise multiple spots during a specific time frame on the TV. They know thru research that is the time that most folks are liable to be watching TV. Does that make them desperate for sales. They are multi-million dollar companies :shrug01:

Using myself as an example.... I have not bumped my ads more than once a day and I dont really plan on bumping more than once a day. My goal is to keep my ads from getting burried. If I can keep it on page one... great. But I wont let it fall to page 15.

Well, that depends..... The constant bombardment of ads on TV has caused me to just stop watching TV completely. Seeing the same ad every 15 minutes just wore my very last nerve down to the breaking point. They should mix it up some. It can be the same company or same product, just use different ADs instead of the same one over and over again.

I guess it's a lot like when I was a kid. I LOVED marshmellow filled donuts. Until one day I ate too many of them and threw up. Yeah, my mom DID warn me! Never been able to even LOOK at one since then. :D

Just be careful you don't push the viewers into overdosing on your ads and having an incident of reverse paristalsis all over their keyboard.

Rich... I just recently reworked my whole website and because of that I had to delete all my ads due to linkage breaks while I was working on the site.

Now I COULD repost all of them at the same time... but Im not. I will spread it out over the course of several days. This keeps some of my ads on the front page at all times without hogging up the front page.

Even when I do bring my ads back to the front... I dont bring them all back. Just a few. My goal is to keep my name in front of folks without just dominating the front page. I think I still have around 40ish left to sale...so it would be possible if I posted every single snake in their own ad.

Then I'd have everyone screaming at me.... or .. .they'd be screaming at you about me :D
