I was at the Columbia show and was 2 tables away from Greg and right in front of Harry. I was unsure of MY 100% HET. Pieds because of the mites that they had on them. I had just purchased mine from bruce, then I started talking to greg when he told me he got pieds. I also did a few trades at that show to get 100% het Albinos from harry(Carolina Reptile Exchange). I hope mine are true hets. But I did get them at pretty good prices, If they are not Hets they will do me no good. I several documents stating he will give me a refund of 1200.00 per snake if they don't prove out. Good luck to everyone who has purchased het pieds or albinos from Carolina Reptile Exchange.

you can go to the thread that is about the breakin at CRE, I forget which page, but I posted the info from the paper when Harry died. Before I did so I verified the address and it is the same as on invoices and price sheet from HCE Inc.

That and according to their website, you would have to breed them TWICE to disprove genetics. That means you have the 2 years of rasing them and TWO MORE years of breeding them before there is ANY CHANCE of you getting a refund.

So there's no guarantee on replacement animals and you are allowed a one-time replacement only? That's got to be the most unusual terms ever written!
With regards to the guarantee on the hets I can bet they were sold w/o a picture ID. If that is true and only a receipt was issued, there is no way to prove to "their satisfaction" that in fact those are the same snakes.

Quick and dirty way to check if your "hets" are wild caught imports. It's not 100% accurate as you can get false negatives. But it would be a lot harder to get a false positive. The only way to get a false positive is if these animals were housed directly with fresh wild caught imports that had ticks. That would be a fairly stupid thing to do to expensive captive bred hets.
Take a drop of blood and do a standard hematology stain. You're looking for hemogregarian parasites, specifically the type that are primarily transmitted by insects (not ticks) that don't live in the US. If you get anything under the 'scope, take some good digital pictures and have the species and subspecies identified by an expert.
Some haemogregarina can possibly be swapped around between animals by ticks, and others have ticks as a part of their life cycle, but a few pretty much have to be the direct result of an African bug that doesn't live here, demonstrating that the critter spent some time in Africa, and probably not on safari either.
It's a long shot, but it would be pretty good proof and all it would cost you would be some time with a microscope and a few digital pics on the Net. Just the presence of the ticks is pretty damning. You could also ID the subspecies and geographical origin of the ticks, though that might not help a lot because of how they can spread through a collection.
In a large lot of frozen dead ball pythons (DOA shipping accident) I bought for king cobra food, one did have a small white spot on its side near the belly scales. Don't know if that was freezer artifact or whether one of my kings had an expensive meal. Gee, maybe I shuld have sold it as a "cold blue freezer morph" that was het for pied. LOL

I know hind sight is 20/20, but it is too bad people did not look at this (terms) PRIOR to buying. Like stated, these are some of the most unusual terms around. They make it look all good, but when it comes down to it, there really is no reason they should have to replace an animal.....in THEIR mind. This is not the first time I have said this, but Bruce always has a way of getting out of things.
The sad part is, people like this scum bag make people very nervous about buying and it makes it harder for the good people like me and may others to sell animals.

It still blows my mind these guys are still stealing from people, it really makes me sick to think something like this can keep going on. It makes me wonder why even bother with this hobby. When theives can prosper, it really does leave no room for the honest breeder. It just makes me truly sad. Craig

I saw the ad, too. I didn't know who CRE was at the time, but I sure noticed a few red flags.
I also noticed that (forgive me) Bearded Pets, Harrison Collection, and CRE all buy their heterozygous animals from an independent breeder. I suppose this claim keeps them from being liable for fraud. Just blame it on the original breeder.

That's maybe now, but in their previous "business endeavours" (as Digital Reptiles, HCE, Harry, Bruce, Noah, etc.) they used to "produce" their own hetero pieds. But you are right, maybe this is a new "business approach"...

They attempted to pass off a pic of my male high orange king cobra, taken in what is unmistakably my bedroom, as a female that is the mother of offspring they have for sale.
Harry is dead, but Bruce still claims Harry is alive and pretends to do business as his dead father. Bruce has been cited for animal cruelty in Florida.
Recently they sent a dying, hacked up, Frankenstein stitched venomoid king cobra to a guy who paid for a NON venomoid king. The animal looked like it had been crudely sewn up with dental floss. It died, of course.
All in all, these people are a real piece of work and I recommend avoiding them. A search on "Bruce Eisenmann" or "Carolina Reptile Exchange" will clearly show why.
