    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

My cat that has up until a week ago lived primarily outside and now its living mostly insde. Yesterday I noticed she had a patch of fur missing right above her tail about 1/2"x1/2" and today it lookks like the hair on the inside of her legs and lower stomach is thinning. Whats wrong, anyone know?
 
Wow, that leaves alot of possibilities. First, check for fleas. If no, fleas or flea dirt present then I would have a vet check in order. It could be food allergies, excessive grooming, skin conditions like ringworm,pemphigus can be possible, though rare. Have bloodwork done, high thyroid can cause increased shedding. How old is she? Good luck. Let us know
 
What does the skin where the fur is missing look like? Is it normal, red, crusty, etc?
 
The skin is normal, looks fine, and doesn't seem to bother her. I can't remember how old right off hand, but probably eight or so. I'm going to call for an appointment.
 
As long as the skin looks normal, then you can rule out ringworm or pemphius(it's an auto-immune problem). I have seen very rare cases of ringworm where it looked like normal skin, you usually see scaling and some redness of the skin. How has she been since you brought her indoors? Is she stressed? Any other animals in the house that she doesn't get along with? How's her appetite? Good luck with the vet. Hope all goes well.
 
Actually the skin above her tail is a bit dry now. She seems to be really relaxed. Eating like a pig as always. No conflicts with any pet.
 
How is she now? Did you manage to get an appointment for her?
 
Could be stress, dry skin, or static electricity. I have a cat that has the same problem every winter, but when nicer weather comes he's fine.
 
So I took her to the vet and they gave her an allergic reaction shot and I've put a new flee collar on her. Its been a month or more ago now and she's still not gained any significant amount of fur.

What now?
 
Have they ruled out ringworm etc?

Stress can make a cat lose hair too. I don't know if they do this in the States but in England we have these plug-ins called feliway, which help 'mellow out' cats.
 
Just drugging her up? That kind of seems harsh, but yeah, they ruled out ringworm and said it didn't look like flees.

LOL, no it doesn't drug them up. Its like catnip... Its a plug-in for a wall socket and it puts out 'happy cat' scents, I guess. Do a google search.
 
Oh, well she doesn't live inside but there is an outlet right beside her house's entrance haha. So it's not like a zombie drug that we have for us humans lol?
 
Feliway also comes in a spray bottle so that you can spray directly inside her house. It's not a drug, exactly, and it's not really catnip. It's actually a synthesized version of the pheromones that cats give off when they are content. Since cats define much of their territory by smell, the presence of the pheromone relaxes many cats. But this will only work if the problem is stress related.

It's also the case the cat hair seems to take FOREVER to grow back, so it could just be that the improvement isn't really visible yet. If the vet thought it was allergy related, then you may just need a more effective flea treatment, especially if she is mainly an outdoor cat. Flea collars are typically only minimally effective, and only work at all against adult fleas. Ask your vet about putting the cat on Revolution or Advantage. These are both liquids that come in a small tube. You squirt the tube of liquid on the back of the cats neck once a month and it takes care of all fleas. Revolution has the added benefit of preventing infestations by ear mites and worms.
