    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy catherine kimball scammer

Has the OP faxed over any of the info from the deal they had with Catherine ? She said she was going to when she got to work this morning ..
 
She has faxed it and it is alot so I am headed over to pick it up then have to scan it in. IF anyone is good at cut and paste to help post this I would love to email it to you since I am so slow at this. Hello, This is my first post here. I joined this forum after I googled Catherine Kimball in fear I had been scammed. I responded to her Craigslist listing, which has now been removed by her. I simply told her we were experienced w/ tortoises and asked what her rehoming fee was.

This was her response:

As long as they go to a good home thats my only concern.

I then told her thanks, I would love one, but I don't want to ship in this heat. I'm in Panhandle. She emailed back:

Hi, I ship for free in a reptile carrier with ventialtion through overnight shipping with fedex, a cold pack is included and popcorn for security, I have done this and the tortoises are very safe this way.
A money order will be good, it is safe as long as you send it with delivery confirmation at the post office (about 0.75 cents). Also, keep the receipt to the m/o so you can track it on line and make sure it will not get lost etc. This way for have buyer protection. Thank you for your interest.

I saved all the pictures to my file from her CL listing and emailed her back inquiring about the one in the front left corner.

I then emailed her asking what mail service she used. I tried to find the tracking number w/ UPS, USPS and Fedex, but couldn't find it.

I tried two more emails inquiring about the tracking number w/ no response.

I then emailed this:

Sorry to keep bothering you, but I'm getting concerned that I can't get in touch w/ you. I'm assuming maybe you went out this evening. I'm really bothered that I can't track this and would really like to hear from you as to what method you shipped by. You mentioned you ship Fedex, but they have no record of this tracking number.

Please contact me back. I'm really looking forward to this tortoise.

No response!

My last email was this:

I'm not sure why you're not responding to my emails. All I want to know is the proper tracking number on the tortoise I purchased from you, w/ receipt to prove it. I used a U.S. Postal Service money order and they take fraud involving U.S.P.S. money orders very seriously. Taking money fraudulently is criminal behavior. If this is a scam, and my tortoise isn't received tomorrow morning (6/17/10), I will be reporting you to law enforcement agencies. I have enough evidence to back me.

How do you sleep at night? I fell for a cute little baby from a picture you posted years ago, which I saved to file. I pray this is all a big mistake and a tortoise arrives tomorrow. I don't understand you not returning my emails. Is this fun for you to get people excited only to hurt them?

I know, call me gullible. I should know better. I'm in the process of reporting her. It's not the money I lost, it's the principle of her scamming people and she needs to be stopped.

I'd appreciate any advice on what to do next. I plan to go to the post office today and report her fraud and go from there.

Sorry my first post has to make me look like an idiot. I hope to share about my other tortoises & reptiles in the future.

Beth - your first post here does not make you look like an idiot. It just provides more solid proof that Catherine Kimball (Cartawick) is scamming people for their hard earned money! Thank you for providing that proof.

Beth please dont feel bad.I did the same thing. Im so glad you posted all your info. I had to fax mine and poor kathy has to make heads or tails of it.Thanks again kathy!!!! Just sucks that now she has been caught all she has to do is go by a new name and email. I know I will be keeping an eye out on Craigslist and other adds to see if she/he starts a new alias. Sorry Paige and Beth that this happened ..
 
Beth... Don't even apoligize for posting your experience... It's legit and is just more evidence against Catherine! She's kind of an idiot for using the Post Office for her scams as they do take this stuff seriously! All you have to do is file a report with the Post Office and it wouldn't hurt to contact the Police in her area and have them look into it! You have her address.. the copies of the Money Order Receipt and the copy of the Money Order and you should be able to fax that info to the police and they would possibly take action against her! Definately report to the Post Office because Mail Fraud is a Federal Offence!

Good Luck to both parties involved to get back your money and put her behind bars where she belongs!
 
Wow! What a great group of people looking out after eachother. I look forward to posting here. I'm still upset that the tank set up next to my Red Foot Tortoises is empty. :( I gave Catherine one last chance w/ this email:

It's now almost noon and no tortoise. If this is a scam and there is no tortoise, I'm giving you a chance to refund me before I contact U.S.P.S w/ your fraud and contact LE.

I will not let this go, so I would appreciate a reply before I take legal action.

She has not responded, so I'm off to the post office to report her. Like I said, it isn't the $30, it's the $30 she's taken again and again from people. I won't give up on getting a Leopard Tortoise, I'll just be more careful in the future and use the reputable breeders I have in the past.

Hey catherine while your at it ,I would like my 100.00 back. You know for the 5 torts. you said i could purchase from you, when you lived in port richy. I mean hey it would only be the RIGHT thing to do.
 
For me it was jacksonville,florida or St. Augustine florida I went back to verify all is gone?I covered all the surrounding areas nothing?????

This touches home to me since i know the pain beth and paige share waiting for those babies that dont come and that sick feeling your money has been taken. This has become my fight too now. I want her to pay and any more of them that crawl out of the wood work and use this forum for such wickedness. ewww i could preach right now.
