All newts are kept fully aquatic with floating plants and cork bark to rest If necessary. Feasting on Frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp, live blackworms, whiteworms and chopped earthworm.
Note: T. shanjing are sub-tropical and do not need the cold temperatures that some other newt species enjoy. I keep these in my basement fishroom where summer temp is 78 F and winter temp is 74 F.
