What's interesting is that it's taken in excess of 30 days for you to respond to Tara's communications...That's what's not right...

Rude or not, you made a commitment to make a deal gone bad, go right. And then, after making said commitment, you send false shipping dates and basically cease communications with Tara. Again...not right.

I think people may have given you the benefit of a doubt in the beginning, but after you failed to make things right and prove you are indeed NOT chad (or chad's lackey), you go and mess up by not sending Tara's gecko and further ignoring this thread. Way to go dude. Any shot you may have had at a stand-up reputation is probably lost.

That's what you got yourself into by purchasing Chad's geckos. You not only got the animals, you got yourself the responsibility of dealing with the fact that you purchased someone else's property. When Tara bought that gecko it became HERS. No longer Chad's, and when he resold it to you, NOT YOURS.

Double-dipping. Selling stolen property. Call it what you like.

It's STILL WRONG.

And until you admit to yourself that not only did Tara get screwed in this deal, but your buddy, Chad, screwed you, too, you will be CLUELESS.

Now-maybe you had NO IDEA of what Chad was pulling, but maybe you DID. It could have been part of a scheme to "sell off the geckos", then send them to you to hide and re-sell at a later date, and split the profits. We have no proof that you paid Chad a dime, so you may be a willing accessory in his scam, for all we know.

THAT is why you have no credibility here.

If this were about jewelry or a car, and the police were involved, you'd be looking at jail time.

Man up and do the right thing.

Let's not forget that Chad and Broderick are still the same person, or at least is deeply involved with each other that it doesn't make a difference.

I don't think there is any hope for this entity to hide it any longer, the best route would be to come clean and say "Hey, I messed up. I tried to hide it. I realize it was wrong, and at the time I was in a bad place that made it impossible for me to uphold my end of the bargain. I want to fix that." And then you go about making good on claims.

AND you let people bash you. Being so defensive does not make you look good, nobody is going to believe it. You run your reputation even more into the ground. If you live up to your responsibilities, you can turn things around, show that you can be trusted.

I was someone who was willing to change my opinion and would have advocated for you if you had actually gone through with your deal with Tara. I was even committed to back that out of my own pocketbook.

Instead, you did exactly the same thing Chad did; fell off the planet till a bit more time went by and you realized you'd shot yourself in the foot with your poor business practices. Trying to skirt around your reputation here by making a new ID is a pure scammer tactic.

In Tara's shoes I'd have nothing to do with you at this point, either.

I personally will never, ever do business with you.

Whether you are or are not Chad (and at this point I don't know or even care any more which is the case), IMO you've earned your poor reputation all on your own at this point.

She wanted the gecko when she purchased it. She wanted it again when Chad got someone to help him ship out. She wanted it when you showed up and said in good faith you'd send it- Which was really awesome of you.

Then you flaked out on her twice.

I consider Tara a friend, she's incredibly sweet and cares a lot about her animals and to see this kind of nonsense go on and on and on. Its frustrating just watching it, I can't imagine being on her end.

People were really excited when you were willing to help her out initially. You seemed to be a nice guy coming in to help someone out who'd been screwed over. And then you just flaked out on her with no reasonable explanation. Can you imagine what its like to be burned THAT many times?

There was no reason to respond after the few days my Internet was out and the week that my grandfather died! I go online to see when I can send her her gecko and I get those messages from Tara. I felt no reason to respond especially after the things she had said. After a month of no activity but looking at the for sale adds every once in a while I just dropped it. I'm sorry all of this has gone down the way it was but please understand when have all of you ganging up on me it is not easy to respond and it is certainly hard too. I'm trying to fix this

There are things called librarys, friends with computers, just because YOUR internet goes out does not give you any right to stop communication would have taken no effort to use someone elses. Now you are doing exactly as Chad did making excuses. Bummer if your grandpa died thats sad but you cannot play that card here it holds no weight we have seen it 100 times and still does not allow you to cut communications. She had every right to say bad things to you if she so chose. You played games with her multiple times for a gecko she has already been taunted with on numerous occasions. IT GETS OLD. You need to understand that people are going to gang up on you and you will have to go to some pretty extreme lengths at this point to prove yourself as not Chad. But that still will not clear your name of being a bad business person.

Normally when something so unfortunate occurs, you try to contact people depending on you to let them know what's up.

Sorry when I said bummer if your grandpa died if should have been in capitols and bold. Ive had 3 of 4 grandparents die and let me tell you it doesn't make you incapable of sending an e-mail. I dont mean this to come of as harsh IF he did die than I am sorry but its the truth of the matter and Chad tried to pull very similar excuses as does every other scammer who promises to correct the situation. You understand when you told Tara I think 3-4 seperate times that her gecko was comming she had to wake up early and sit around waiting for it. Easy there, tiger...you're getting in your own way again. READ what I wrote again. I am not questioning THAT your grandfather died; I am questioning the decision YOU made to allow it to get in the way of YOU doing the right thing.

As for the 'I have no right' drivel, you're wrong again. This is a public forum. I am free to express my opinion. In case it hasn't been clear, I'll try again: You are in charge of your reputation and how you choose do deal with things that happen to you. Make this right.

Im sure if she said that it was because you had promised to ship so many times and not come through. Pretty sure anyone in the same situation would have said the same. YOU should have been "the reputable breeder you know you are" and said Tara im very sorry I was not able to ship as planned SOOOO many times. I have been going through some stuff and I still want to make this up to you! I will figure out an EXACT shipping date and not mess it up again. And then you should have proceded to send her the gecko.

He had a second chance, but he screwed that up too! Why would you go through all that trouble making an alias and screw it up immediately all over again? If he had sent me the gecko imagine how many more sales he would've made because people would've started trusting him.

After his last PM to me, I responded "Just keep it! I'm tired of your lies and empty promises, all you're doing is wasting my time!" So between that, and telling him to take the gecko and shove it, lol, I don't expect to ever see that gecko, and I'm totally OK with that. I'm so over it! At least I didn't end up totally empty handed.

She didn't tell you to forget about it till after two weeks of YOU giving her the runaround about shipping dates.

Shipping dates are a big deal in the reptile industry, just in case you aren't aware of that.

At this point Broderick, your rep is shot, and you DID play a part in that. We all have families, we all work, we all have internet and technical troubles. BUT if you are trying behave in this hobby in a professional manner, it CAN NOT affect how you do business with someone. If it DOES-- its on you. Not them.

Your grandpa died. Its sad, but it happens. You blew a shipment because of it. That is what is bad here. Not that you were affected by his passing, but that you let it affect TARA and the animal you promised to send her.

Its not like it was just ONE day either, I was given 3 Separate delivery days, and all 3 I didn't get any notification that it wasn't happening. I seriously have just given up on Chad-erick, and the gecko. I'm done with this whole mess.

I would like my name and geckos to be completely disassiciated with Chad and what he did with his geckos to you guys. I purchased chads collection in thought that it would be an enjoyable experience and thinking I could breed some pretty cool geckos and possibly make some money back on what I bought. I personally think the geckos I purchased from Chad are absolutely beautiful and although with a gouache of a repution, deserve just as fair of a chance of being bought sold or traded as any other gecko on this forum. I have taken plenty of harassment and false accusations and am really sick of it. I am still even willing to send Tara her gecko after het sending some RUDE messages to me just bc I was incapable at the time of sending it out to her. I would like a fair chance at selling off some of my geckos and would also very much like to buy some off of here and pangea. I feel the way you came across was rude. I'm over here trying to find a way to get your your gecko FOR FREE and you come at me the way you do. It's not right.

The BOI is not just a place to bicker, reputations are at stake for people in the reptile business. You might not realize it, but people will judge you by how you act in this forum, regardless of your feelings. If you search for "Broderick VanWyn", two separate BOI threads show up, and they are both negative towards you.

Tara already paid for her gecko, it is by no means free to her. If your claim is true, that you bought these geckos from Chad, it was not his to sell you and belongs to her even if the cost comes out of your pocket. People here to investigate your business practices will see this, and that it's taken you over 30 days to even let her know what was going on with the gecko.

If you claim that Tara is being rude, then you have to give some evidence, and not blow it off. Her reputation is at stake, too, and she's managed to keep it in good standing. Hopefully you'll realize that it's in your best interest to rectify the situation. If she wants to keep it out of PM, that's her choice. Set the date and time of delivery of the gecko if you intend to ship to her.
