In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Charging more for fauna members

I understand the "so what". Its business he should get what he can - right.

Nah, its just that it aint any of my (nor anyone elses for that matter) business where and for how much someone else sells their animals.

Kelli, It is true that I buy snakes in multiple places. Is that a problem? You do have your own forum linked throgh H.I.S.S. - right.

Also, while I could send him an email through kingsnake my preference is to conduct business with people who I can check out on sites like this. I simply don't like that someone is charging more for the people who shop here.

Its my opinion - nothing more. I would think that members of fauna would have similiar opinions though.

Yes, you are welcome for the H.I.S.S. plug.

BTW - you know me

Sammy, its my concern if I am making a purchase. Someone else making a purchase might have their own concerns as well. As a seller of anything you open yourself up to questions about charges - don't you.

But hey - I love the laid back presentation - Gotta find a little bit more of that for myself

Hey Kelli

Alot of inflection can be lost in written form - especially for those like myself who can be pretty dry anyway. I'm not mad. I'm just dry person.

I suppose that as long as it is not price fixing, people can charge what they want. However, if I found that it was a deliberate move to get people to shop KS over FC, (not saying that's the motive, but if it was) I'd not want to do biz with that person.

Seeing an animal listed at two different prices at two different sites, yet both within market value, raises what concerns? And exactly what information do you think you are entitled to?

Personally, when I see an animal I am interested in I make an offer for what the animal is worth to me. I really dont care what price the person is listing it at or where.

I just can't see why you would charge more on the site that has more transparent transactions. It makes me question the person's honesty if they charge more for a more open format.

I am not sure what you mean when you ask what information do I think I am entitled to. I would prefer that I feel like everything was on the up and up when the deal is done. It bothers me that a seller seems to be trying to milk people on faunaclassifieds for more. I think that you are probably allot more informed than most people on fauna (including myself) and we depend on this type of open format to help us to get honest deals with honest dealers.

I guess I am thinking about people like myself in the not to distant past. I needed post like this so that I would not get gouged when buying my own snakes. It helped me to get into the hobby feeling like I got a fair deal not figuring out that I got taken because I was a noob.

See, there is something I forgot. I didnt take his ads as a slap at Fauna or its members like you do. I still dont.

Some people may have ads that are cheaper here and more expensive elsewhere. I know I sell to my Fauna brethren cheaper than I do at other sites. And that aint even mentioning what I really sell stuff for to my Fauna brethren behind closed doors.

Does that make me a "milker" or some kind of questionable seller to people who call other sites "home" instead of Fauna? Not that I really care, just asking.

But damn right I reward the contributors of this site with better deals than I would a total stranger. And to be perfectly honest, it aint anyones damn business what deals I give to who or where I give them at. Which has been my entire point all along.

Reward - Milk

Two very different concepts

Easily confused depending on the angle though

Interpreted in the eyes of the beholder?

I certainly did not make this post because someone was giving out rewards.

Like or not when you post it, it becomes everyone's business. Sammy, you made your business by being a part of the conversation (a public part).

I gotta go to work. AGAIN

Perhaps the seller feels that people who use the classifieds here have a higher income level and therefore are willing to spend more.

Retail chains have different prices for different areas depending on income levels.

That could be, or Lucille could right, or he could think people here are bigger suckers, or, or, or.

So, I guess it depends on if you are the type or person to:
1. Give him the benefit of the doubt
2. Assume the worst
3. Just pick a side based on how you feel that day (to many people).
4. Check things out yourself
5. Any of the other million+ things that you guys can think of and that I have not.

I attempted to check things out myself and was told that it wasn't happening, then that it was an accident caused by an explainable set of circumstances. Then I saw it done again the same day. So, I know that there is at least one person posting ads for more on fauna than other sites regularly, and he lied to me and told me that he did not. In the grand scheme of things I guess I just have to be happy with the fact that I was able to share this with the fauna community whom I respect so that anyone who was unaware that it is happening might check it out before they buy.

Please, please tell me how wrong I am. It is more fun that way.

Like or not when you post it, it becomes everyone's business.

That is where we see things differently. I owe no one an explanation for why I price my animals the way I do nor where I post my animals at. All I owe the potential buyer is all the information about the animal that I can possibly provide, as well as my TOS and business references.

If you contacted me about why I price things differently at different sites, I would initially tell you very politely it aint none of your business. Because it aint none of your business. If you persisted I would just tell you to go piss up a rope.

That could be, or Lucille could right, or he could think people here are bigger suckers, or, or, or.

.... or, or, or maybe he simply has the right to price his animals for what he wants where ever he wants.

This is my viewpoint. Thanks sammy! I AGREE! :D

Looking at the classified ad that was deleted and his responses to your questions, his version sounds very plausible.

He first placed ads here on this site at a certain figure. The items were still available at a later date so he then posted ads on KS at lower amounts with the desire to move the animals. He then bumped his original ads here but didn't change the original amount he put on the animals. Seems reasonable and nothing underhanded to me. You then pointed out that his prices were higher here and he explained he bumped his original ads, which were posted for some time before the KS ads. He then changed the price to match his KS ad when you pointed it out.

I don't see anything deceitful or wrong. Even if he wanted to retain the higher prices up on one of the two sites. I don't remember the exact amounts. I think it was $800 here and then $700 on the other site or something like that for that particular girl.

Thank you for pointing this out to the community. But as Dennis said,
I don't see anything deceitful or* wrong.

Like I said before, if you see anything else that points to shadyness, let us know. The issue may be taken a bit more seriously then.

Sammy, he does have that right to charge what he want where he wants. Is there a point at which I have disagreed with that?

I have the right to bring it up in the hopes that people on this site check it out and don't pay may more, and other people have the right not to like it. So you disagree with that?

Hey Dennis - I think the first time we have discussed anything in the forum

The explanation does seem extremely plausible. I only addressed one ad, but it had been done before and was done after as well. According to the time stamps, just minutes after the ad here was deleted and reposted with no comments (which I think was the best thing for him to do) another ad for a snake that is advertised here was placed another charging $100 less on the other site.

Taking into consideration that ads have been placed in the past charging more for animals here, another ad was placed charging more and the price was changed and called an oops when I inquired about it, and then yet another ad was placed charging more for a different animal after the the inquiry, I have to say that it is a clear pattern. It is not a mistake.

It was not the explanation within the deleted ad that makes me question is honesty but his actions before and since that clearly point to the fact that he simply charges more for his animals here and that it was not accident. That makes the plauible explanation a decent lie.

Yes, he has the right to charge what he wants. However, if I am given an explanation that does not coincide with actions that are being displayed, it is going to make me ask:

Why the dishonesty, what exactly is he trying to hide?
