• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

IF you are in the market for feeder anoles or other herps do NOT trust this guy:

charles clifford
122 brown loop
harleyville,sc 29448
843-225-2777 wk
943-462-2703 hm
Or anyone else using a different name and this address, I recently contacted him about buying 100 feeder anoles as the frozen ones I had bought looked like freeze dried coffee. Guy gave me a big song and dance about how he's "way back in the boonies and shucks we aint got no modern way o' doing things"
Don't send him any money..because the phone numbers are bogus and as soon as he gets the cash he stops responding. And i have given him EVERY opportunity-and if he kissed my butt right here in front of you ALL i wouldn't take back a word-DO NOT DEAL with this guy!

Correspondence ended with these two as soon as they received the money. I have been trying to find out for a week how they planned to ship so I could take steps to make sure the animals did not enudre any more stress than necessary. I have emailed them twice a day to find out what happened to the shipment I was assured would leave on Tuesday. If they DID ship the animals they are sitting somewhere dead in a box because they would not respond. But I don't think they ever shipped them. And it was the positive nature of the posts in the classifieds that encouraged me to trust them. I DID the research-the phone numbers are bogus. I called the work number only to have a guy act like I was disturbing him asking for Chuck Clifford. The other phone number is no good.

I've done business with Chuck & Amber in the past and did not have any problem. The communication was excellent throughout the entire transaction.

I just don't see why they would give anyone the run around for 100 feeder anoles. It just don't make sense to me at all.

Kevin, did Chuck or Amber give you those phone numbers? Perhaps the numbers changed during a move or job change at some point? I mean if they gave you bogus numbers in an email I can see it looking like a case of fraud to you. But if you simply researched them on the net then they very well could be just old phone numbers that they once had a long time ago. Theres really no crime there in changing your home phone number if you move or switching jobs that have a different phone number.

But again, if they provided you with bogus numbers then that's not cool.

Yeah and it was THESE posts that gave me the confidence to deal with them. I was told he had 75 anoles and that he would have the others in a few days. We arranged for me to send a postal money order as he said banks and stores were a distance from him. With each email I kept asking how he intended to deliver as I didn't want them sitting in transit somewhere but wanted to be able to make sure they were delivered (I'm a little off the beaten track). Amber responded that weekend he would send them Tuesday-still no information on how they would be shipped. Wednesday I began to implore them to tell me how they would be shipped as I had received nothing and had no idea if there was problems finding the address. They cashed the money order and refused to respond to any further emails after that weekend. When I called the home number it was a non working number. When I called the work number and asked if he was there the guy said "No," like "why would he be?" I thought it strange the home number and the work number had different area codes (those are copied and pasted off the email HE sent) so I tried it with the other prefix and got no answer. After three days of trying to call and emailing I emailed them that while I could not change the fact that I had trusted him I would do my best to make sure that no one else made the mistake-end of story. Maybe he had a death in the family? But if I had made arrangements like this (regardless of the fact it was for feeder animals) and someone had sent me money I would made the atempt to let them know my situation.

The phone numbers given (assuming that the change in area code was a typo) come back to a Lucky 7's Tattoo shop in Charleston (work number given), and to the home of Amber Diehl in Harleyville. 45 miles between.

Is Chuck a tattoo artist? :shrug01:

From what I have seen in photos....he has a lot of tattoos.

Its being to smell bad.....like Kevin has been scammed.

As Cat said ...

The work number is Lucky 7's, where Chuck is listed as an artist.

Here's Chuck's myspace .. shows his last logon today. Did he used to live in Florida? (reference to a comment in his "Interests" box about "getting the f out of Florida")

Obviously the guy should not be unreachable nor unable to communicate.

This Is my last post. I've nothing more to say. He still hasn't contacted me and I've done what I set out to do. If you've had satisfactory relations with him I'm happy-I have not. I had originally intended to by fifty anoles but Charles told me I could get a better deal with 100. I sent him a postal money order for 97 dollars. The number would have been insignificant but I sent him what he asked for.

well, first off...i had a family emergency and had to go to florida.second i emailed you as soon as i got back on sunday to let you know what happened!
I really don't appreciate you lying to people about fake phone numbers.your quote" I DID the research-the phone numbers are bogus. I called the work number only to have a guy act like I was disturbing him asking for Chuck Clifford. (how is that a bogus number then?)When I called the work number and asked if he was there the guy said "No," like "why would he be?"(of course not i had an emergency...nice to make assumptions) I thought it strange the home number and the work number had different area codes (those are copied and pasted off the email HE sent) so I tried it with the other prefix and got no answer. After three days of trying to call and emailing I emailed them that while I could not change the fact that I had trusted him I would do my best to make sure that no one else made the mistake-end of story."(How can i answer my home phone when im not there?)In the email on sunday, i told you i would have them out to you on tuesday! Now i will be sending you a money order instead(will post a picture for eveyone to see as well as numerous anoles in a cage, that will be going to another customer now).I hope in the future you can have a little more patience before you pass judgement! As for not knowing how they would be shipped....at .75 cents per 100 and 22 dollars shipping could you have happened to not remember that you wanted to get them thru usps as discussed in the emails,or the fact that you thought you would get ripped off to begin with!Unfortunatly thats not our style.

second note....yes i do tattoo(15years)
third note..... yes i did live in florida

thanks chuck clifford

one last thing...how immature can you be?can you say slander!!!
your quote...This is NOT the legitimate business of that name. And this guy is probably some toothless junkie that uses people's interest in herps as a way to get a fix. Don't trust him-he is a ripoff and a liar...

Kevin, I can understand why you got worried, and yes, a simple email from Charles may have done wonders to ease your mind, though sometimes there are emergencies that make something like anoles the last thing on our minds. You did make a lot of rather unfair assumptions, just because you couldn't reach him.

And Charles....I don't blame you for being ticked either, but I don't think anything that Kevin has done makes him a ripoff....he panicked and jumped the gun.

I think if both of you calm down anad talk it over, I'm sure both of you can bring this to an end that will be satisfactory to both of you.

*side note* Is any of your work featured on the webpage for Lucky 7's Charles? I saw some really cool ink.... ;)

I don't blame you for sending back the M.O., Chuck. What kind of post could you expect if a couple out of the 100 you ship arrive DOA? Even if he brought this deal to the BOI, he could have been a tad more reasonable...this guy tried to crucify you off the bat!

All right. I'll respond to this post one more time-"the guy" DIDN'T try to crucify him right off the bat. The guy wasted three days waiting for delivery-the guy didn't set the price-YOU did. And the Guy expected a few DOA's that's why he repeatedly tried to find out method of delivery to minimize that. That's WHY the guy wasted three days waiting for delivery because he had no idea if live animals were sitting in a box dying somewhere. I cannot think of an emergency that would prevent me from fulfilling an obligation. If I take your money you WILL hear from ME. Funny the guy never received a reply until you SAW this post. Slander? You lied to me. And yes, I might have said some mean things about you and I regret that. My only intention was to prevent others the same mistake.Under the circumstances had I rated you between one and ten you would have received a big fat zero I would have dealt with YOU differently under the SAME circumstances but then, perhaps, I value my word more than you.
