Well, Kara stopped in for a little bit and chatted for a little bit. It sort of turned into a mini-chat after a little time..!...

Here's the log from this impromptu chat:

MR_Jungle_Mist: In case everyone didn't guess....NERD_Inc is Kara...
MR_Jungle_Mist: The SHE-NERD
Hlynn1975: The nerdet
NERD_Inc: Miss NERD...
NERD_Inc: aka "the woman who knows what's going on"
MR_Jungle_Mist: Kara> you do mostly boas at NERD, correct?
NERD_Inc: boas & bloods
NERD_Inc: and baby anything
herphunter: ooohh gotta love bloods
NERD_Inc: loooooooooooooooooove bloods - muchly!
NERD_Inc: even when they're angry
herphunter: lol
herphunter: only angry ones are usually imports
NERD_Inc: we bombed with bloods this year...DO NOT MAKE YOUR BLOODS FAT!!!!
What types of crosses have NERD been able to accomplish?
NERD_Inc: We've done Angolan X Balls, Bateaters, Carplots, DiCarpLots
NERD_Inc: We tried Woma X Carpet this year, but the woma just wanted to eat the Carpet
Ms_Terese suppresses a bad joke
MR_Jungle_Mist: lol
NERD_Inc: ME too...I thought that right after I typed it.
NERD_Inc: Woma was a female...so I guess it would fit.
NERD_Inc: doh!
Ms_Terese: great minds think alike...
NERD_Inc: crazy ones run in packs, too!
Ms_Terese: When I saw you in White Plains, Kara, you guys had a ton of Bolivians......are you still workig with them?
NERD_Inc: Terese - yes...a few, and a trio of Silverback breeders
MR_Jungle_Mist: Do you have pretty much all the locales of Boa Constrictors? Peruvians, Guyanans, Surinames, etc etc?
NERD_Inc: At home I do boa localities...at the shop we do morphs mainly, and nice Guyanas & Surinams
NERD_Inc: we're trying to refocus the collection at this point
NERD_Inc: and kind of phase out the stuff that gets lost in the mix
Ms_Terese: What do you look for in a good Guyana or Surinam?
NERD_Inc: hang on.
NERD_Inc: http://newenglandreptile.com/t6.jpg
NERD_Inc: that is the standard by which I judge all redtails.
NERD_Inc: But I am biased.
The-Anti-Spider: pretty
herphunter: ooohh love the perfect bat wings and bright tail
MR_Jungle_Mist warms up his trusty ol' 56k..
MR_Jungle_Mist: wow indeed.
NERD_Inc: sorry about that...I forget not everyone is on cable
Ms_Terese: cable? hahahhahahahahaha
MR_Jungle_Mist: not a problem at all...bring on the pictures!
Hlynn1975: lovely animal
The-Anti-Spider: i'm on dsl
MR_Jungle_Mist: Kara> Does NERD import from anywhere, or mostly do all cbb?
NERD_Inc: rarely...the closest we'll get to imports is farmed, and even then it has to be someone we've dealt with for awhile
MR_Jungle_Mist: What would you say is your best seller at this point, Kara?
NERD_Inc: Ball pythons...without a doubt. They are hot right now.
Ms_Terese: which morphs?
NERD_Inc: All of them.
NERD_Inc: Albinos & pastels have gotten to a point where more people can afford to do them
Ms_Terese realizes she's not most people and *sighs*
MR_Jungle_Mist: Do try and shy away from regular balls because of all the imports you have to compete with?
NERD_Inc: Well, yes and no...we breed a lot of normals "by accident" - i.e. the results of Co-dom projects
NERD_Inc: where you don't hit the gene
NERD_Inc: and those go into the baby rack...I raise them & we take those to shows rather than buy imports
NERD_Inc: which can result in some very pretty normals
NERD_Inc: and some that get the unseen traits from a Co-dom gene
NERD_Inc: i.e. Spider sibs tend to be great feeders
MR_Jungle_Mist: Kara> do you see NERD expanding to new facilities at some point?
NERD_Inc: later this year
NERD_Inc: we are moving the facility, as well as our retail pet store, to a 12,000 sq-foot building.
Ms_Terese: wow
NERD_Inc: And we'll be living on site
The-Anti-Spider: cool
Ms_Terese: takes alot of balls to fill 12,000 sf
NERD_Inc: Only 6,000 of that will be NERD, the other half will be pet store & educational facilities
The-Anti-Spider: do you have any leos nerd?
NERD_Inc: Yes - I do leos just for fun. I am a junkie for hatching things so leos are nice there.
The-Anti-Spider: any sub adult?
MR_Jungle_Mist: hard to hatch sub adults...
The-Anti-Spider: lol
herphunter: hehe
NERD_Inc: very true
NERD_Inc: Yes - about 60
Ms_Terese: junkie for hatching things? Will you come to my house?
NERD_Inc: Sure! What are we hatching?
Ms_Terese: Lab burms
NERD_Inc: Het albino water monitors hatched today
NERD_Inc: or started, I should say.
The-Anti-Spider: What is your website?
NERD_Inc: http://www.newenglandherp.com
NERD_Inc: but don't look at that one...it is SOOOOO outdated
NERD_Inc: new site soon
The-Anti-Spider: you all don't got any leos for sale on there?
NERD_Inc: Nope...like I said, the site is way outdated.
NERD_Inc: But email me with what you are looking for Em.
NERD_Inc: [email protected]
The-Anti-Spider: ok
The-Anti-Spider: thanks
Ms_Terese: gotta love that email addy
NERD_Inc: I have some that will def. breed later this year
herphunter: got corns nerd?
NERD_Inc: only on my feet!
Ms_Terese: How long have you been with NERD Kara?
NERD_Inc: Moved up here from TX back in Sept.
NERD_Inc: Kevin & I met last year (Thank you Tracy B)...and it just evolved from there.
NERD_Inc: Tracy Barker is like my 2nd mom...
Ms_Terese: What brought you up there, Kara? (If it was something *other* than Kevin)
NERD_Inc: Nope...it was Kevin all the way.
MR_Jungle_Mist: Were you as much of a herp freak before you met kevin, kara?
NERD_Inc: Absolutely - I was breeding snakes in TX for 8 years prior to meeting him
