    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just real quick I wanted to say I bought two of Mike's XLG russians and they don't disapoint. A nice guy to deal with.

I agree with Wendy Childs, I bought 2 of the large Russians 7" + and in my email communication with Mike, he reassurred me that the tortoises will not be smaller than 6.5" and he sent pictures, however when I received the tortoises, one was 5" and the other was 6" significantly smaller than what was advertised, I emailed him and he blamed the problem on his packer (I do not beleive someone else packed them for him, as in his emails he said he needed a bigger box to fit them in shipping box), but offered no solution , replacement or refund, and has not returned any email since then.
 
To begin with, none of these tortoises are very reasonably priced, and are certainly not what I would consider "cheap."

Second of all, who would want to purchase an animal without first receiving a photo of the animal, or at least a physical description? Any caring breeder would glady do this without demanding that you first spend $500.00.

Point three essentially sums up points 1 and 2. This man is 1.) advertising a variety of tortoises as "cheap" in his title as a way to draw in buyers and 2.) clearly wants you to spend $500 before he will even send you an individual photo of the animal you are buying. In essence, he wants to make money, and lots of it.

Lastly, do a little research on this man. It appears that

1. He does not even have any of these animals in his possession, but will order them after a paypal payment has been submitted from the buyer.

2. Illegally sells animals on CraigsList, when the site is to be used for rehoming family pets only.

3. If you follow some posts that he comments on, he does not appear to be very mature. He uses vulgar language, taunts and bullies individuals that he does not like, and in general, is rude.

These are my observations after doing some research on Mike Matson Jr., and as result, I have chosen not to purchase a tortoise from him.

I agree the kid might be a douchbag(i do not know him personally nor have i done business with him) from what i've read, but there is no need for a post like the above after Wendy posted the link to the BOI.
If you didn't like his prices or method of business, just move on instead of pissing him off, getting the response he gave you that resulted in him getting banned.
