Do the words "Trailor Trash" mean anything to you? I hate to sound like an abode bigot, but my experience with people live in trailors has not been exactly positive.

*I* live in a trailer. I onject to the term used to blanket cover everyone. I own the HOME and the land its on. I own a successful business and perhaps $20K worth of snakes. I am not trailer trash. I have several friends that also live in trailers. THEY are not trailer trash.
If you call HER trailer trash fine. Just be aware that if you blanket statement everyone JUST because they live in a ttrailer, you are doing a disservice to people.
Having dealt with that, thanks for the head's up on this woman, and I will be sure to never sell to her.

Two weeks and no water will kill a BRB quicker than most any other species of snakes. I sold some babies to a pet shop and they were able to kill 2 babies also in about 2 weeks. I refuse business if the buyer does not convince me they will have the right caging and food supply. Always ask questions of the buyer, they may still lie to you but at least you will have made a attempt to insure the animals long/healthy life. Sorry for the loss.

Not for nothing David but have you ever really taken a look at some of the trailers you can buy?

They are huge and really nice.

My brother in law live in one and you would never know it was a trailer. It has a deck to the pool in the back and the rooms are very large. It also sits on 3 acres of nice property.

Some of the trailers in California are priced at $1M plus.

I live in a house but I have seen some trailers that would make me consider moving into one of them.

A lot of these sit on large peices of well landscaped property and are worth quite a bit.

Not everyone who lives in a trailer is trash.

Im sure David was refering to her being trailer trash as per the conditions of the snake and its enviorment. Im sure there could of been a better way to put it, in the heat of the moment he said the wrong thing. He is very upset by the death of the snake in just 2 weeks, which Im sure the poor thing had little or no water.I could be totally wrong, and I dont know him, but Im just giving him the benifit of the doubt.

Lets focus on the poor serpent who died in horrible conditions.

I think David had every reason to be quite mad, and want to vent here and in his local herp community. My guess would be that the local publicity there will have more of an impact than this thread, as she seems to be a local buyer.

There is a part of me that only finds egregious fault with Chelsea for wanting her money back, not for being ignorant. Obvious to all, David had no obligation to refund. All the other husbandry shortcomings are not deliberate attempts by Chelsea to harm her animals IMO. If she was selling the animals, such that she was a broker or quick-flip dealer, and trying to cut costs, then I would view it differently. Otherwise, just enormous stupidity regarding the care of things she has paid good money for. Maybe this thread and other influences will get her to take a step or two (maybe 10) backwards, learn about proper husbandry, spend some money in the right places, and do it right moving forward. Maybe she could hook up with some folks in the herp society and say "I need help". As they say, you can lead a horse to water .......

For the record....I do not think she should be given a pass on her poor husbandry. She proclaimed to know what she was doing MANY times yesterday while I was at her location holding the 90% dead Rainbow Boa and viewing the horrible conditions her other animals were in. She is nothing more than scum.

I'll admit that I don't know the laws in KY, but wouldn't it be possible to alert the relevant authorities concerning animal welfare about the inhumane conditions in her home, particularly that boa tank?

Unfortunately, there are no laws in KY that protect reptiles from being neglected or abused. I would not report her to the authorities even if there were, since this sort of thing only brings more negative attention to our hobby. I think the herp community does a good job at policing itself in situations such as this.

You did a fine job presenting your case and had you left it at that there wouldn't have been any reaction to your post other than that related to the atrocious mistreatment of animals in this person's care.

Everyone here gets the point you were making about the neglectful conditions that led to the demise of the animal in question.

Your statement about the mobile homes was insensitive and inflammtory in nature and to expect people not to react to that would be naive at best. The fact that you think this is unbelieveable doesn't really improve your position.

Although, it is prudent to hear both sides of a story before forming an opinion, you have made a strong case and in the absence of contrary information/evidence it certainly does seem that Chlesea has quite a hole to dig herself out of.

Have you contacted anyone regarding the neglect/mistreatment of the animals still in her care?
