In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Chelsea Richardson-SNAKE KILLER...

Chelsea that is enough! The more you post, the more replys you will get. I suggest you go back to school. Learn how to spell, then you could read the caresheets and not kill anymore snakes. You need to do some growing up! A mature person would realize their mistakes, learn and grow.

Brandon, I've been trying to give some benefit of the doubt but you're just a glutton for punishment. It's not 'He said, she said" it is what you said.

A little recap Brandon:

the snake had humidity, the hot spot was at 88 degrees and the cool spot was around 70. not perfect but it shed and ate, always had access to water to soak in. and one day looked like a total differant snake. it changed overnight practically.

-we housed the snake in a 10 gallon aquarium with a 75wat repti light and heating pad because my house isnt always warm.

-the substrate used was potting soil without any chemicals and moss to help keep in the humidity, also a bowl of scalding hot water was placed in the tank every day with a towel placed over the top of the tank to add to the humidity.

-the cage was furnished with the bowl that was used for both soaking and the hot water for humidity. Had a small log hide.

-temperature was measured by an exotera thermometer placed inside the tank, the tank was kept between 78 and 88 degrees, hot spot being 88 degrees.
Brandon, you describe a terrible set-up for rainbow boas and you contradict yourself in the same thread. There's no conspiracy here. You're your own worst enemy, except for Chelsea. You've made your own bed so don't go blaming it own the Fauna.

Brandon or whomever is sitting behind the computer. Do you really think that your pathetic attempts at insulting people here really bother anyone??? Nope!!! it just keeps this thread at the top of the BOI for everyone to see. And those that read this thread see stuff like your post above and gee I wonder what they think? I bet they are not thinking wow Brandon/Chelsea come across as such caring and intelligent people.

Since you seem incapable of seeing what is so obvious to most everyone else here, maybe it's time to stop posting and hopefully before long most will have forgotten this thread and who it was about. You can always hope anyway..Randy

my recent comments? i have not posted on here for over a week. you dont know the condisions of the snakes encloser. all you people care about is he said she said bs.QUOTE]

Exactly why you should have your own acount or at the very least sign your name at the bottom of the posts that you make. That way people posting wont get you two confused and you wont stick your foot in your mouth not realizing what Brandon had posted while you were away.

A few years back i considered getting a BRB but after doing some research i decided against it. I was a single father of two and wanted something with a little less upkeep. Even though i have never had a BRB i look at the setup you posted and just shake my head back and fourth ...

Chelsea,

You need to post on your own account. Any posts you make using Brandon's account will continue to be deleted and will result in Brandon's account being suspended.

Brandon & Chelsea

Though none of us, save one person, have actually seen your husbandry practices I would venture to say that they seem somewhat lacking based on some of the things you have stated in this long thread.
As an old man who began keeping herps as a boy, before “proper care” was even heard of, I can tell you up front that all of us have made our share of mistakes and much of the information, advice and judgments you have seen in this thread are based on those mistakes. Though you have been attacked in this thread it is due to the attacker’s love of the hobby and the animals involved.
Many of these good people would more than likely be happy to assist/educate you in learning what you really need to be doing if you contacted them for the help.
As I remember it, it was mentioned that you are still in possession of some beautiful Boas possibly being housed under questionable conditions?
Please avail yourself of the experience and knowledge of some of the Boa folks on this site to ensure that you are providing the best situation for these animals possible.
Again speaking from experience, I know that a boa can survive under much less than ideal conditions but do you really want them to just survive or would it be better for you and them if they were to thrive?
Asking for help from people with more experience is no crime nor an admittance of a shortcoming, other than your lack of specific knowledge, it is a sign of intelligence and wisdom.
Also don’t let the fact that you messed up stop you from trying. Contact people in the know when you start thinking of getting a species, learn from experience breeders and keepers what is correct, set up everything for the new animal weeks in advance to be sure you can provide an appropriate environment then start looking for the animal.

Ps. Though web search care sheets can be nice, and there are some good ones out there, there are an awful lot of them that would not be good for toilet paper if you printed them out so please find a mentor with some experience to help you out if for no other reason than to save an old man from eye strain reading through these long threads. :)

As much as I hate to bring this thread to the top again, I thought people here should know that either Chelsea or Chelsea's boyfriend, Brandon Rogers (felix_herp_00) is posting classified ads under the name of Alex Rogers (aka peepee696). I think a simple IP match up would prove this.

I'm amazed it took until post #236 to realize that more than one person was posting under the "Brandon" name. The typing style, use of punctuation and lack thereof....well it was pretty obvious awhile back "Brandon" wasn't just brandon LOL.

Just a comment here as I've been in the awful position of having to bring public someone's lies and keeping snakes incorrectly but representing themselves quite differently. It's a horrible place to be in, a very difficult decision to make and personally one I never hope to find myself in again but sometimes you just have to speak up. I'm sure at some point David felt the same way.

I've also been in a situation where I literally spent every day on the phone or driving to a person's home with my husband trying to help them care for a snake they never should have owned (she got it from a pet store). We printed out caresheets, gave her forum websites (apparently she couldn't log in as she couldn't figure out how to sign up *sigh*), begged her to remove a huge heat rock, helped her feed the snake (she got a 5.5 foot BCI and guess what...was afraid of the rats it ate...even the dang frozen ones!). Eventually it of course went down hill, went so black you couldn't see it's saddles anymore and developed belly rot (probably from the heat rock combined with the massive kitty litter pan full of water it constantly spilled all over it's substrate). The whole time folks she's arguing with me that dragging this snake out to "play", driving it around to visit friends with the car windows down mind you and loose in her car is a good thing and my suggestion to leave the poor thing alone for a moment is "abusive" since her snake seems "lonely".

I took my first deep breath the moment she handed the snake to Mike and I and you can bet I had her sign a release of ownership. Oh and she drove the snake to our home loose in her car, windows down yet again, snake loose in a speeding car for a good 20 miles. I'm still amazed I didn't throttle her! This snake by the way is now over 7 feet, she's beautiful and healthy and living with a loving, knowledgeable owner in Texas.

The reason I went into this story is that you can do everything you can but some folks will NOT listen, they have a mindset that what they are doing is just fine and dandy and you can beat yourself against that wall all day long...they won't change and they don't see the damage they do. They take on a living creature they don't really understand and they have a million excuses why it died or is now horribly ill....funny enough they never use the excuse "I didn't bother to learn what to do to care for this creature and it's my fault". Sorry but with the advantage of the internet and caresheets on just about any creature out there plus a ton of forums to ask for help in, there is NO excuse in my mind for this sort of thing. You can try to help folks as much as you can to learn but some will not learn, don't want to learn and just should not be responsible for other living things.

Whatever excuses these people have and whatever David did or did not say about them, is in the end irrelevant to my mind. The relevant thing is this one beautiful little snake that didn't deserve what happened to it.

Bobby, there are several ads posted by them right now....just find peepee696's profile and you'll be able to view all the ads they currently have posted.

Another tidbit of info....unless they have a captive propogation permit (which I'm pretty sure they don't), they are breaking the law by selling those Kingsnakes in Kentucky. Kentucky law states that any normal phase Kingsnake in the getula complex is considered to be a Native species and cannot be sold without a captive propogation permit.

If she/he is selling off the reptiles would this not be a GOOD thing? Especially since the entire colony of geckos seems to be for sale? Should be selling under the correct name, but it's not a bad thing for her/him to get rid of the reptiles if this thread is any indication of how they are cared for.

You could look at it like that I suppose. But wouldn't you want to know that the animals you're buying from someone got the best care possible? I am not sure you can say that if you buy an animal from Chelsea or her boyfriend. I just thought people would like to know.

Always good to know who you are buying from. I just was addressing the issue of "They shouldn't be selling reptiles" before it came up.
They SHOULDN'T be in the business, but hopefully they are getting rid of what reptiles they do have, so they won't be in substandard care anymore.

:iagree:

David, I find this thread to be really shity on your part. Almost a month ago you agreed to let this issue rest but yet you continue to bad mouth this young girl. You once claimed that the death of the snake could in no way have been your fault. Did you get a necropsy done? The snake could have had a respiratory infection when you sold it to her or it could have ingested a stone from the cage you were keeping it in. You refuse to consider that you could be partly responsible for what happened. Instead you continue to make it impossible for Chelsea to learn from her mistake and become a member of the herp community. Since this insident happened she has gotten proper cages for all of her animals and has received care information from a respected member of the local herp community. I have one thing to say to you get the hair out of your ass and leave her alone.
