In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Chelsea Richardson-SNAKE KILLER...

Why can't she come onto Fauna and show pictures of her new improved set-ups? I'd love to see her new snake enclosures.
Educating pet owners to take better care of their charges is always great, and if she did re-do all of hers to proper ones, I'd love to see the new set-ups.

Did you get a necropsy done? The snake could have had a respiratory infection when you sold it to her or it could have ingested a stone from the cage you were keeping it in. You refuse to consider that you could be partly responsible for what happened.
That has already been covered with very little left to debate.

also a bowl of scalding hot water was placed in the tank every day with a towel placed over the top of the tank to add to the humidity.

-the cage was furnished with the bowl that was used for both soaking and the hot water for humidity.

Correction! Nothing left to debate.

David, I find this thread to be really shity on your part. Almost a month ago you agreed to let this issue rest but yet you continue to bad mouth this young girl.

Its unfortunate that you see things that way, Shane. I can't understand how letting people know that she is selling animals under a false name (which is against the rules of this site) is "bad mouthing" her. Its the truth....the truth hurts in this case. Sorry, not my fault...don't shoot the messenger.

The snake could have had a respiratory infection when you sold it to her or it could have ingested a stone from the cage you were keeping it in.

No, the snake could NOT have had an RI. No, the snake could NOT have injested a stone. Unless respiratory infections occur magically overnight and unless magical gnomes are sneaking into my room and putting stones into the cages of my animals without me knowing, both of those suggested occurrances are unequivocally out of the question.

You refuse to consider that you could be partly responsible for what happened.

Um, well....perhaps you could explain to me in detail how EXACTLY I am responsible for what happened. Please, elaborate.

Instead you continue to make it impossible for Chelsea to learn from her mistake and become a member of the herp community.

Um...NO. CHELSEA is making it impossible by continuing her dishonest behavior. All I did was point it out. If she wouldn't behave dishonestly, there'd be nothing for me to point out, now would there? LOGIC....its a crazy concept, eh?

I have one thing to say to you get the hair out of your ass and leave her alone.

The sheer rediculousness of this sentence makes it nearly impossible for me to wrap my brain around it. Wow.

Wow.

David, in your first pic of the snake was that or was that not gravel that the snake was on? You failed to answer the question about the necropsy. Was there a necropsy done that proved it was 100% her fault that the snake died? You are partly responsible because you sold a snake to a minor without explaining the proper care for the animal. You assumed that she knew what she was doing. Even if she had told you that she knew how to care for the snake you should have gone over the proper care, but you didn't. Therefore you are partly responsible for the death of the snake. As for letting people know that she is selling under a differant name, you could have started another post or just notified the proper people of this sense you were so concerned.

Dennis, I know that it is no excuse but I have seen care sheets that recommend putting in a bowl of scalding water for humidity. Just because they admit to doing this does not give David a reason for not getting a necropsy done. If he was so upset about what happened then he should have had one done immediately to determine the exact cause of death.

shane, where did you see a caresheet saying to put scalding water in with snakes?

Link it or post it with origin.

Chelsea's a Loser along with.......

Everyone that posted in her behalf.....What's Jim-o think? Buy a book and save some brains cells........Ed Clark.....DO you need glasses.....That was a
perfect specimen(BRB)! Two weeks plenty of time to Dry out a perfect specimen.....The Belly looked burned....probablely the Hot water...Duh!

David, in your first pic of the snake was that or was that not gravel that the snake was on?

That was decorational gravel that I used as a contrasting background for the pictures I took of the snake. At no point did the snake ingest any of the gravel...I haven't seen many snakes just decide to scarf down gravel out of nowhere, have you?

You failed to answer the question about the necropsy. Was there a necropsy done that proved it was 100% her fault that the snake died?

No, I did not fail to answer the question...I simply do not feel like repeating myself. The necropsy issues was discussed earlier in this thread. Find it yourself. I am in no mood to assist a Johnny Come Lately such as yourself....sorry.

Dennis, I know that it is no excuse but I have seen care sheets that recommend putting in a bowl of scalding water for humidity.

I would LOVE to see such a care sheet (assuming it was not written by Chelsea or her boyfriend LOL).

I have never seen a snake eat gravel because I am smart enough to not put them on it. I have seen a ball python eat aspen bedding for no reason which resulted in its death. After that happened I stopped using bedding in my cages. As for the care sheet, I will do my best to find it. I believe it was in a care sheet for breeding boas.

Shane, I get the impression that you're insinuating that I lack intelligence because of my choice to photograph a snake using gravel as a background. Would you care to explain the insinuation? Why is doing this "not smart"? This would be very informational for me and the people reading this thread, no doubt.

Common sense would tell you that putting a snake on gravel, even for a picture, is a stupid idea. The dust from gravel can cause respiratory problems in humans so it can cause respiratory problems in snakes. Also, the snake could have eaten a piece of gravel when you were not looking. But, I geuss in your mind it was okay because it was just for a picture. That is like saying I want a picture of a snake on hot coals. Because it is just for a picture it is okay, right?

Shane, just out of curiosity what do you keep?

3.1 redtail boas
1.1 green burm python
1.1 double het snow boas
1.0 leopard gecko
1.1 Haitian tree boa
5.3 sugar gliders

also temporarily have 7 red ear sliders and 21 Barbados moon crabs

I understand your logic but disagree to a point. the dust comment is a little overboard (IMO). Snakes are animals afterall, i am sure they don't get magical RI from crawling around on the ground in the wild. Also who's to say if he used gravel as a substrate he didn't clean it first witch would eliminate the dust in the equation.

As for having a hair up his arse ... i couldn't say but i think he had a valid point by posting in this thread about her using another alias.

Many breeders will use gravel of different colors to take pictures of their animals. In fact, I've seen a lot of breeders actually keep their snakes on it at shows to show off the colors. No snake I have ever seen is going to just eat gravel......it would be different if the snake was kept on it constantly (i.e. fed on the gravel etc) but this was apparently not the case.

Shane, I am no fan of David, but you are reaching a bit with the above statement. You may want to consider stepping away from your keyboard for awhile. Your first post made your point and had some merit, it has gone down hill in your follow up posts....

LOL....Now I've heard it all. :ack2:

We're worried about Gravel now?? Now that is well,,,, to put it kindly Less than Smart a lot less..

Shane if your just playing Devils advocate here well there are better threads for that but to each his own. If your here trying to defend the young lady you've wasted your time and not done a very good job.... Randy

Since this insident happened she has gotten proper cages for all of her animals and has received care information from a respected member of the local herp community.

I am curious who she has gotten her care information from. Feel free to PM this to me if you don't want to name names in public.

I am also curious if you have a stake in this or if you just feel like defending Chelsea. Are you in some way related to the accused?
