Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Cherry head growing question

My Cherry head is 3 yrs old now and she seems to have some slight pyramiding, she is kept with my other 3 yr old in the same conditions, diet, humidity, etc. I am wonding if others think she is pyramiding or am I over concerned. My other one is not ivory/marbled like she is do you think that may be why? I highly dought it. I want to correct it now before it gets worse. The only reason that I can think of right now is I had to lower the humidity alot for a few months because she started to get very very small shell fungus spots on plastron which are cleared up now.
Please post any opinioms or questions

The pyramiding doesn't look that bad. Sometimes tortoises kept in ideal conditions grow differently. I remember having Indian star hatchlings being raised together in identical conditions. Two out of three grew smooth and one had slight pyramiding. There are steps you can take to help prevent pyramiding but I think we will never know all the parameters involved...
 
I agree with Michael. I have some cherryheads that have been raised in the exact same conditions, diet, and overall environment. One is perfectly smooth and the other is slightly bumpy. It is frustrating, but I think that there are more factors that control pyramidding than we are aware.
 
Yeh, there are more factors that we as humans have not found yet, I have noticed that she is improving since I raised the humidity back up. I did see some great pitures somewhere that I cant remember of a shell that was cut to show a cross section of the bone, the pyramiding is actualy in the bone and not the scutes. I think it is a form of MBD like others say, but still stick with the humidity.
I agree it is very fustrating.
