In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

All chondro guys,
I am about to start a new breeding project, and I need everybody's input to make it a success. I am looking for importers of the absolute highest quality and integrity. I want to start the project with high quality animals that are unrelated to any other in the country. Obviously it is of great importance to use the best importer(s) I can find. If you can reccomend someone who you know and trust, please let me know. If you have some "secret" supplier who is really good and you don't want to give them away, contact me and we might be able to work something out, but obviously I want to deal directly with the importer. Replies can be posted here or you can e-mail me at [email protected], or instant message me on aol instant messenger, screenname: Ryen301.
Thanks for your help,
Ryen Carlson

Hi Ryen

The best tip I can give you is to forget about your project using imports and stick with cb animals. I keep GTP's and all but one are cb, and the one import I do have is nothing but trouble and he is kept exactly the same as my others. I would not tkae in another import GTP if it was free. This is of course my personal opinion and your and others opinions may differ, this is just my 2 cents.

Ryen,
Although I cannot agree with Gary on not owning any imports like these,

These are the most prized breeders in my Chondro breeding group. Might I say that the male High Yellow is one of the best proven breeders that I have to date. The female Aru is gravid now by him, YEAH !!!! My collection is very diversified with imports and C.B. Chondros and I still have trouble telling the difference. PLease feel free to call me in regards to purchasing any and all forms of imported and C.B. Chondros.

Ryen...You JUST heard from one of the BEST Chondro people around! Wyatt is also one of the best "pole sliders" in the industry! lol (he's a fireman) He's also one the nicest guys you'll talk to! Give him a call, it can't hurt??
IF Wyatt doesn't have what you want...you can also try Eugene Bessette of Ophiological Imports in Gainsville, FL....You want to see some GORGEOUS CB stuff??? Ask him to send you some pics...
BOTH these guys are VERY GOOD at what they do! You won't have a worry with EITHER ONE!! "Eddie" said so! lol ....Neil

Thanks,
Wyatt- all I can say is...:0 wow, thats what I'm talking about! ...expect your phone to ring very soon
Neil- thanks for the reccomendations. I agree without a doubt that Eugene Bessette has killer stock and is no doubt going to be receiving the majority of my sad little paychecks soon. However, in this situation I am looking for wild caught (crazy, I know). It's always fun to read your replies.
Gary- I'm one of the biggest promoters of captive bred reptiles that you could ever meet. However in this situation I'm relenting and going with wild caught. My motivation is to add a little genetic diversity to the mix. I would like to build a unique bloodline. I have bought fresh imports before and have faired well in there acclimation. However, please continue to spread the captive bred message.
Thanks guys
Ryen

>>I'd have to play the devil's advocate here by saying Captive Born is the way to go for building a healthy breeding group of Chondros...particularly for someone just starting out with Chondros. Adding a well acclimated wild caught animal (from a reputable importer = who will stand behind his WC Chondros) from time to time for genetic diversity is a whole nother issue -- STILL better left to those with GTP experience, in my opinion...TW<<

Ryen,
I would have to agree with Trooper. Although I haven't had nearly as much experience in keeping and breeding chondros as Trooper I have had both CBB and WC chondros over a long period of time. My first trio of CBB babies bought in 87' (except for one prolapsed female) became very good, reliable breeders for me. However, I never, ever could get any of my WC chondros to breed hardly at all! The wildcaughts ended up in my freezer while my 15 yr. old cbb female Wanda is still hammering rats and thriving -- although probably too old to breed.

I would say if you buy WC, get in a situation where you can have someone you trust completely, with a good eye for healthy arboreals pick them out for you. If you deal with exporters directly I would say you will have to do alot of business with them in order for them to favor you and send you good quality animals! Just some thoughts to ponder.
Good Luck!!

John Hedger

Mr. Walsh- I could never argue with you when it comes to chondros. Basically- you are the head honcho for my favorite snakes ever and a big dog in the world of my favorite lizards(varanus), and you breed dogs and you shoot! Then you go and help me out with info on the zoo. Not to mention that what you did at the national zoo is what I want to do when I grow up (if that ever happens&#33 and from what I understand, a strong christian. You don't happen to be into cars do you? Okay, now that I've probably scared you into getting a restraining order. My whole point in that is that I value your opinion. However I am a stubborn person (ask my mom, she'll tell you), and don't give up my position easily. So here's my take on things. You are definately right, cbb is the way to build a healthy breeding stock...I dunno...preferably with animals you produced(hint hint&#33. So, yes I would like to have a majority of cbb animals, on that I will concede. However, I like the idea of wc or farm raised for a few reasons. First, and least importantly, is genetic diversity. The idea of having an entire bloodline that is completely unrelated to anything in country is in my mind valuable. Second, having a bloodline that I can document beginning with the first ones in country, is also appealing. Third, having bloodlines of individual locales that are 100% true is not all that important in my mind but definately nice. Finally, some imports that come in can have very interesting traits that are not common in captive bred (like Wyatt's snakes).
To date I have owned two green tree pythons one captive bred and one fresh import, and have done well with them. I have acclimated alot of other species of snakes. I understand that it is not a simple undertaking. My goal would be to acclimate the wc adults and eventually breed them once. Then holdback the babies, raise them and breed them. I'm not saying it would be a quick or easy process, but I feel it would be worth the effort. An integral part of it obviously would be to work with an importer that is trust worthy and will help me with my task. Hence, the reason for the start of this thread. I would like to pick the best importer and buy from this consistently and build a relationship with them as suggested by Mr. Hedger.
Please let me know what you think. Like I said, I value your opinions. I hope one day that we can meet or talk directly, I promise I'm not scary in person. I look forward to hearing from you.

Mr. Hedger- Thanks for your response. I agree the key to success would be good importer and developing a good relationship.

Wyatt- I am so sorry that had to blow you off when you called. I was having a not so pleasant "discussion" (if you can call it that) with my parents... ...not so fun.

Thanks everybody for your responses

>>Hi Ryen...

Your post does scare me a bit...so just for the record I have been happily married for 20 years **grins**...

The reasons you state for working with WC Chondros are all excellent and I wish you all the success in the world with your venture. But just for the record - I haved produced CBB animals over the years that look very similar to the beauties Wyatt is working with - so they do exist...!

With regards to a reputable importer I would strongly suggest Kamuran Tepedelon of Bushmaster Reptiles. He has quality farm raised imports of all age brackets at fair prices and although I am not a fan a believer in most "Locality Chondros"...(most of this is just sales hype and BS) -- Kamuran's animals in my experience have been the real McCoy. Tell Kam I referred you and asked that he set you up with something nice...can reach him at 303-530-2252.

Good luck & Enjoy...and always remember...CHONDROS RULE...so THINK GREEN...!!...TW<<

Mr. Walsh,
Darn...thats too bad . Maybe i'll give Greg Maxwell a call! . Just kidding. I definately hope to own one of those wonderful cbb chondros that you are producing. Thanks for the help, I will definately give him a call.
Hmm...think green? i was thinking maybe a little blue...or some white...or maybe some yellow! Chondros only...wouldnt want it any other way!
Thanks again
Ryen
