I had never been to this site until recently, and I could not believe that Chris Dehart (aka reptixotic) would dare mouth off about someone when he has no right to talk. I live in the same town (Austin, IN) he does, and a couple of months ago I seen that he had some snakes advertised for sale. I had always wanted one for a pet, and they seem reasonably priced, so I went to check them out. He brought out two snakes to show me (I think one was a boa and the other a python of some sort - I am still new to all this!), and I immediately was sick to my stomach! Both were very thin and were blowing bubbles out of their nose and mouth, and I could hear them breathing from 6 feet away! I don't know much about reptiles, but I know enough that they were NOT in good health. I wouldn't even dare touch one for fear of getting something from them. I lied and told him I'd have to think about it and left. Thinking he may have possibly gotten out of the business since then, I had my brother call to see if he had anything for sale. Sure enough Mr. Dehart said he had a pair of Burmese Pythons for sale that he had had for over 5 years (excuse me, but where were they a couple of months ago???) that had "Genetic Respiratory Infections", that they would always have it, but were in good health other than that. Good health other than that??? Is someone with chronic bronchitis considered to be in good health? And is this contagious to other reptiles? People? He seemed to think it wasn't. Now I heard he is supposed be selling alligators, and is trying to get in a shipment of poisonous reptiles - is this legal??? I know one thing is for sure - I will never step foot near that place again, and I will save my money back to buy from a REPUTABLE breeder!
