Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

In December of 2005, I payed Chris and Mary Julia of Nature Coast Exotics located in Brooksville Florida the sum of $1600 USD via credit card. I was supposed to receive 4 rare African crocodiles (2x C.cataphractus and 2x O.tetraspis).
Before payment Chris was very helpful and friendly and always willing to "talk croc". As soon as payment was received Chris e-mail respones were delayed more and more, until I could not receive a response from him at all. I would e-mail daily requesting to know the status of the crocs and received delayed responses from him of up to 2 or 3 weeks. I called daily for several months also. I have received only 2 phone calls from him in total. The second phone call (6 months after he has received full payment from me) he informed he that his supplier in Cameroon (which I had nothing to do with) had robbed him for $9000. I was very sympathetic towards his situation. I asked for a refund of my money since he could not supply me with the animals I payed for. He agreed to refund my money during that conversation. Since this time he has promised me many times he would return my funds, but $0.00 has been returned to me. Chris still owes me $1600 USD. I have called him and recived no call backs, sometimes he will hang the phone up immediately upon seeing my number, and he will not return my e-mails.
I did research him on this forum before the transaction, he seemed to have been a good guy, so I went with it. CHRIS IS A CROOK, AND HE ROBBED ME FOR $1600!

If anyone has any tips for me as to how I can get my money back and/or bring justice to Chris and Nature Coast Exotics, please help. Thank you all for your time.

Since you paid by credit card, call your bank and reverse the charge. It may not be too late, especially if you still have the emails and send them to the bank as evidence. A charge back puts his merchant account in jeopardy and will hurt his business quite a bit if he loses it.

This "Goods Not Received" claim has been in the works now for a few weeks. I have sent ALL the e-mails to visa and they have been very helpful. I'm hoping this will work! Thanks again.

usually there is a 6 month time limit on chargebacks unfortunately--maybe they will see this as extenuating circumstances, but it is doubtful-Ben
 
Ben, unless the credit card companies changed their time limits.... when Kim Felt's husband (babyslither??), divorced Kim, he went to Visa and told them he didn't make the purchases that I sold to Kim (she used HIS credit card, as his wife), and Visa told ME that they can wait up to 18 months before they put in a claim!!.... Kim's husband was able to cancel every animal I sold to Kim from 18 months earlier.... Of course, Kim DID eventually pay me back, but it's the time limit that's involved here.... I think Matt will get his money back.... Hopefully....

You are correct. A stop payment or chargeback with Visa must be filed within 9 weeks, I believe. However, a claim of "goods not received" has a more forgiving timespan as they(visa resolutions dept.) are currently processing my claim. They informed me that if the merchant is unable to provide proof of product delivery to the purchaser, or proof of refund, they are able to withdraw the amount claimed from the merchant's bank account.

Wow! What is it with Chris Hunter and the magic number $1600? That’s about what he ripped us off for. Actually it was much more if one counts all the animals we stocked for him and the countless hours we spent trying to track that looser down. Check out the attachment…

What happened?

I use to do alot of business with Chris Hunter about a year ago and he was a real stand up guy. Always sent my orders out on time, package them really well, and was very helpful through every transaction. This is a real shock!
 
No. Mr. Hunter never did pay. Just like you stated, he vanished off the face of the earth when it came time to pay. Before I sent animals, he always called and emailed. The guy’s name is worthless and I sure wish I checked around before I did any business with him. He burns almost everyone and the amazing thing is they are mostly all contacts he would do well to keep in shape as he only stands to benefit in the long run. Somehow, he is able to rip off enough people to keep himself in business and it never seems to catch up with him.

I would like to update my thread...

Thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions during the difficult time I experienced while attempting to recover my stolen funds from Chris "Con Man" Hunter, And Mary Julia of Nature Coast Exotics. After 12 months of being dicked around by the shameless coward known as Chris Hunter, my credit card company's resolutions department was able to win the dispute with Nature Coast Exotics, and remove my funds from their merchant account. Thanks to the good people at Visa for their outstanding work!

It was a long and stressful time trying to recover my funds, and the many lies I was fed by Chris Hunter of Nature Coast Exotics, caused me undue stress for a full year, both financially and emotionally. In closing I would like to warn the herp community that no matter how rare or sweet tasting the deal might be, Chris Hunter is a deadbeat Con "man" and will defraud you out of your hard earned money. Stay well clear!
