When calling your bank about the issue, they will pretty much ask you exactly what they need to know. It's best to just explain exactly what happened. You paid for some snakes online and it turns out the guy had already also charged other people for the same snakes and then disappeared. They're usually pretty good about getting a stop put on the transfer, or reversing it.
I've only had to call them a few times about issues like this years ago and it was a quick and painless process and my money was back in my account within a couple days at the most.
