    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey Rich I have a few suggestions for the classifieds sections. Here goes…

First, how about expiration dates on classified ads? Like after 8-10 days a classified entry will expire (it wouldn’t be listed in the classifieds). The person would then be able to access it in their Classified User CP and post it again if they wish for another 8-10 days. Now if they don’t re-list it, the system would completely delete it after a few weeks. Having an expiration date would allow posters to re-list their ad with out copying and pasting but with out constant bumping. Just browsing through the classifieds there are ads well over a year old, almost 2.

One thing this would do is eliminate old ads and save server space.

Second, how about only letting contributor’s bump ads. This would be more incentive for a member to become a contributing member. Everyone would be able to highlight an ad (for $1 as they do now) but only contributors would be able to bump any ad at anytime (like on the old system). A regular member would be able to highlight an ad but won’t be able to dump it until the ad expires and they re-list it. The expiration idea above would also apply for the contributors.

I don’t know how well these ideas would work or even if they’re practical but there just ideas. Any thoughts?

There are pros and cons to everything. I wish I had a nickle for every time someone has asked me if I still had a copy of an old ad that has been deleted.... Quite frankly, I don't see the problem with someone just reading the date that an ad was posted. I do wish people would clean up their own ads, but there are a lot of drive-by posters out here who have no intention of doing that, evidently.

Making this happen automatically would require that I pay my programmer to do it. Maybe sometime in the future if it appears to be a real problem, I would consider doing that, but right now, I would prefer spending my programming bucks on better things.....

Well the whole idea behind this is to try to drum up some money in an easy and painless way so I have the capability of adding in new features and modifications without digging deep into my own pockets to do so. Would doing this in the manner you propose be better suited to that goal then the way I am presently doing it? Beats me. Maybe. But maybe not. This is probably one of those things that you don't know what is best until you look at it in hindsight.

Thanks. I always consider any ideas people throw at me, but honestly, those that require an additional expense to implement have to be REALLY great ideas before I will consider implementing them. Even then, although maybe a great idea, the expense of implementing it may be more then I am willing to spend for it.

Ok I wasn’t sure. I guess I don’t know the capabilities of the programs you’re using so I don’t know what can easily be changed. Ideas never hurt though, they’re free. :) I’m sure the programming is not cheap and after this last upgrade the bills are probably at a constant flow.

I was just thinking if you can raise enough contributor memberships that maybe could help out a lot with the bills. We’ll make it work. That’s again for the great site…
