    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have a question about changing the way the pics are displayed in the classifieds. Would it be possible/practical/useful to change the way the thumbnail pictures are put next the thread titles in the classifieds? The way it is done now is by attaching your images to the thread and the first attachment is the thread thumbnail, correct? Could it be easily modified so that the thumbnail can point to a picture uploaded to an image hosting site (e.g. photobucket, etc) like you can link pictures in the add body itself. This would allow posters to add thumbnail pics without having to upload the image and take up server space. Why take up fauna server space if the image is already stored elsewhere on the web?

Or is there already a method to do this that I am unaware of?

Just a thought.

Not knowing about the workings of such things, my guess would be that it would have to be done via custom coding - to set up a way for the advertiser to link to that source for the thumbnail.
I do use photobucket images for some of my ads, particularly when I want to comment on each animal shown....I just attach an image at the end for the thumbnail preview

Sorry, but no. I asked my programmer about this and he said it would not be practical to try to implement it in that manner. A lot of the internal code used for this function would have to be rewritten from scratch to do all the functions that vBulletin already has written into it.

Seriously if I could have avoided having to upload the images to the server, I would have jumped at that option.
