In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Cold weather

It's 26.6 degrees right now on my front porch. I guess the tangerines ripening are going to be history. Maybe better luck next year.

The air is only cold if there's a breeze.
Tell me about it - I went out to test a new flashlight last evening (impressed, btw), and the "breeze" had a definite bite to it. I'm definitely not looking forward to the next 3.5 months.

You're tellin me! But at least we have consistent heat with the wood stove. Our house stays nice and cozy! :)

I have always loved such weather. It good for cuddling a special someone although it gives my hand and feet a lot of shaking.

Hmm, interesting. I didn't realize it got that cold in the Philippines.... I learn something every day.....

Oh, pardon the ban hammer, please..... :smash:

We're finally getting a bunch of much needed rain here. Big rain and wind storm is hitting today. So what does CA do? They close local schools and advise people to stay home from work. Because... rain!

With another blast of cold on the way, I thought this YouTube video about "global warming" to be interesting....

Been raining like crazy past 2 days near Cleveland. My backyard is a swamp. 50 today. Not bad for Jan 4.

The forecast here in north Florida for Wednesday and Thursday night is low to mid 20s..... :ack2:

it made for a great commute... nobody else on the road that day.
I used to drive a truck, been in much worse than that; heavy fog (or snow/ice) makes for a tougher drive IMO.

the cold weather the rest of the country gets makes me appreciate the Bay area weather that much more: warming up to upper 60's and low 70's during the day this week (could use more rain though...)

We got a couple of snowflakes where I live, but surrounding counties got 2-3 inches. Kinda upset because we were the only schools that actually went today... everyone else got out due to inclement weather! Tomorrow's high is 28! Gonna be a cold one!

Got hammered with snow but the wind was killer. I got to work and the walk to the employee door was brutal. It was like minus 25 with windchill. 7 out now with minus 15 windchill. Flu and Pneumonia and sinus infections running rampant at work also.

Well much warmer than last week but the snow started at 8 pm last night and just stopped about 1.5 hours ago. My street is a mess. They'll start plowing it about the time I turn the light off for bed.

If it helps, I am completely jealous. I have been waiting anxiously for some of the white stuff since November. We have a small chance of getting some tonight but I'm not too optimistic.
It should be against the law to have cold weather and no snow .

Heck, Connie and I both came down with the flu late last week, so it really doesn't matter what the weather is like outside. :ack2:

Rich, I was just around your neck of the woods the other day at the Guard armory up in Quincy. It was definitely way colder up there than it was here in Gainesville!!

Well, with a couple of nights between Thursday night and Monday morning forecast to be in the upper 20s here, I figured I'd better get a few pics of the trees flowering before the cold killed the blooms.

This one is a Japanese magnolia.

it has been in the 70's here in the bay area this past week, only complaint I have is there is no effin rain!

Beautiful pics Rich, I wish my hand was that steady

I wish it was 70.

I'm so envious of you all right now.
This is what my yard looks like right now :(

What I get for living in New England.
