In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Cold weather

Well, the weather here has been pretty crappy today. Not any snow, mind you, but light rain all day with temps in the mid 40s as a high. I couldn't find a real driving reason to go outside all day long. Things aren't going to improve substantially temperature wise until Saturday. Sometimes I do envy a reptile's capability to hibernate.

Surprisingly, so far the blooms on the trees I took pics of earlier are holding up pretty well. And the peach trees are starting to bloom as well. So many of the plants seem to think it is Spring time. Just wish the actual weather would agree with them.

Something is REAL wrong here....

You know, I'd kill for mid 40's right now, lol

Yeah man, this global warming crap is a real pain in the butt! Sure hope the government can do something after taxing us and reducing carbon dioxide (the effects of which will wind up costing us even MORE money) so we can get our normally cold temperatures back again.....

You and me both! Yes winter is supposed to be cold, but sustained lows in the single digits or below zero is not typical in my area. There are lots of folks with burst pipes in or under their houses.

Ouch! And here I am whining because it got down to 27.5 degrees last night and the forecast is for around 20 degrees tonight. It's probably not going to get over 45 degrees at all today, which is pretty unusual for these parts.

Honestly, I can't think of ANY reason for me to ever travel up north in the Winter months. As for ever LIVING back up there again, well, that just is not going to happen. Wild horses, and all that.....

A sunny 63 here. I started tomato plants late this year so they are small. Went to WalMart to get coffee and they had beautiful big tomato plants for sale so I bought some.
THIS year, I'm waiting for the lfd to plant, I remember in recent years being seduced into planting by good weather and a late hard freeze killed a bunch of my baby plants.

Yeah, seen that around here too. Early blooming plants will often get knocked back by late freezes.

Hmm, maybe the USA should start taxing Canada for all the cold air it exports to us every year. Maybe that would put a stop to it.

overcast in the AM, sunny and warm in the PM in the SF Bay Area.
I am starting my seeds this week and keep the baby sprouts in the greenhouse until later in March, late frost risk (if any) being my motive.
I'm beginning to wonder if there will be any water to keep them alive this summer. Perhaps Combatwombat or Joe can ship me some of that snow, lol.
Seriously though, try and keep warm.

PS, blame Siberia for the cold air, Canada was just the middleman

Tomorrow at work I have to go up on roof and find a leak. Through 3 or more foot of snow and ice! How the heck it is leaking in this weather I do not know. My building sits on top of a hill and is chilly in spring and fall. This should be fun, lol.

Wow! That's a lot of weight on your roof. Be careful up there.

Addendum to last post: And your having water leaking through the roof likely means that the bottom layer against the roof is just mush. So it might slide off if you have a substantial slope. Don't let an avalanche take you with it to the ground.

Flat roof and cheapest one money can buy. Rubber with river rock holding it down. 10 year warranty and it's 25 yrs old. Leak is near where 60 foot drop is if you fall off the side. On other side of roof it's 30 foot but concrete. The wind is what get's you. A few times I thought I would fly off the roof. I keep telling them we need new roof but they are content to spending money on quick fixes and ceiling tiles out the wazoo.

We have to get our roof fixed come the spring..but I don't want to think about it right now.

but right now...this is whats going on in my neck of the woods

Man..... Imagine how bad it would be if we weren't deep within this disastrous period of "global warming". Mind numbing, to say the least...... :D

Went down to 23.8 degrees on our front porch last night. Finally got over 50 degrees this afternoon, but it was obviously a struggle. By Sunday they are calling for a high of 77 degrees around here. :crazy03:

The Japanese magnolia blooms are history. Connie says it looks like the blooms on the apple trees and peach trees are kind of OK. The older opened blooms took a hit, but the new ones not opened up fully seem to be unscathed.

I hope that was Winter's last gasp here.

warmed up to 18 degrees. Snow storm now.....

It's going to be 74 today, I ordered some mulch from the tree company :D
