    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Thought I'd take a comparison shot of some NERD and Barnhart line black pastels. The upper right is the NERD line, and lower left is the Barnhart line. As you can see the Barnhart line tends to be brighter with more orange in it, while the NERD line animals I'm working with are just plain DARK.

The Barnhart line also seems to make more extreme versions of your standard black pastel combos, like this plain old black pastel yellowbelly...

And lastly, just a comparison shot of the two Barnhart line black pastel yellowbellies that I've hatched out this year. The male on the right just had his first meal a few nights ago, and the female on the left is about two months old but took a month to start eating. She hasn't put on much size but she sure is packing on the orange!

Cool. I have NERD line and they are dark like your NERDs as well. But I want Panda Pued so I went as dark as I could find.

I like the barnhart line but the nerds I like better the darker the better me..they are all nice ..

It really comes down to what you want to do with them. When I got my first black pastels years ago I wanted the darkest I could find, and it ended up being a couple of NERD lines. Those two girls are still super dark and smoking hot, used one of them to make some black pastel het albinos this year. But when I saw Barnhart's black pastel yellowbellies that was way too smoking hot to pass up!

You should see the pewter I bought from him. I think no matter what his line is crossed with it comes out much nicer than your standard black pastel cross. Some may like the look of the standard black pastel but I really dig the crazyness of the side pattern of his and what that does to combos like the yellow belly.

Yes, definitely! Whether it's an extra gene or just selective breeding, these black pastels make some wicked combos... just take a look at some of the other black pastel yellowbellies that have been produced and compare them with the ones I posted pictures of.

Really cool comparison shots Chris! Thanks for taking the time, I really dig those Barnhart BP's. I agree they each have their uses, but those Barnhart line's are NICE.

Thanks for sharing very interesting I like how the barnhart line throws crazy combos. I prefer my black pastels dark though.
