In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello All,

I have noticed that many people Interpret a 'Locked' or 'Closed' Thread as One which is Not Accessible or as one in Which the Snakes are No Longer Available for Sale.

They do not realize that it is just a way to prevent anyone from Cluttering up the Ad with comments or posts.

I have lost many sale opportunities due to this misinterpretation.

I used to think it meant the same thing when I first joined the Site Myself.

Is there anything that can be done to Clarify the Definition to Viewers?

Thank You in advance.

Not really, if you are talking about some sort of built in feature...though, with registered members no longer able to reply in ads, I would think there may be less incentive to lock them. Personally, I don't welcome anybody's comments in my ads - but I agree that locking seems to discourage some from inquiring.
One thing I have done is make a statement within the ad that it will be locked, but as long as the ad is still up, the animal is available. Then, if I choose to keep that ad up after I sell the animal, I simply remove that statement and the price when I mark it SOLD (which I do in both the ad title, and where the price had been).
I think sellers managing their ads better would help - when something is sold, the ad should either be removed, or it should be labeled as sold.

Thanks for that input. I agree with what you are saying. I will just make a point of explaining that the ad is open for buying the snakes but closed to comments and posts. I appreciate your quick response. Take Care.

Hopefully the need to close ads has been greatly reduced. Truth be known, when I decided to close all classified ads to replies, it was only at the last moment that I decided to continue to allow paying members that privilege. But the caveat is that if the ads continue to get cluttered up with garbage and bickering, then that ability will also end for paying members.

The purpose of this was to try to make the classifieds more of a buying and selling area than a battleground for personal spats and out and out trolling.

If such problems still exist, please report such posts and the members continuing to engage in such activity WILL be dealt with.
