    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

THAT'S GREAT!!! That should reduce the "revenge" karma points (if they don't know who gave the bad karma, they cant get even!:rofl:

Rich evidently deleted everyone's Karma cause I was down to zero until Laura repped me. You can still see who gave you the Karma, but when all the Karma was deleted, it deleted all of the previous comments for Karma too.

The I thought some of the Karma was from post count...But that's no longer showing up either.

I understand that..still and all, if the ability is there not to list who give any kind of karma points..I think it would be a good idea to institute it.

IMHO, if someone wants to announce to the receiver that he gave rep points, he can still do that. My concern is reducing the amount of revenge rep giving that someone that received a bad post karma would give out in return.

Viewing who repped you is one of the perks of being a Contributor. At least it was when the program first started (don't know about now?). I sure as heck want to see who gave me negative Karma rather then them have the ability to hide who they are (causing further abuse of the system since they can hit you with negative Karma and not have to fess up to it).

Darn... yet something else that doesn't work that used to.

Used to be when a member became a paid contributing member, the system would automatically switch them to use the profile option that displays those icons. That was another custom mod I had my programmer do in the old code. Guess we missed this one when we were looking over the list for this upgrade. He hasn't sent me the bill yet. Probably afraid I'll have a heart attack and then he won't get even a penny....

In any event, you can change this in your User CP for your profile.

As for the karma stuff, man, I'm dancing just as fast as I can. Bear in mind that I do have other things to do other then working on this site 24/7/365. :D

I agree, i liked alot of the comments i had gotten, and i liked to know who gave negative karma too.

But it does make sense to me, because people can now freely give bad karma, and good karma without worry as to knowing who did what. It does make it more "fair" but, makes it easier for others to give it too.

*shrug* it will prevent abuse, because if you get bad karma, you cant send off your friends to give the person who gave you the bad karma, bad karma.... ( like some known members were doing.... )

I guess, i like it. :)

I understand what you are saying totally..just let me explain what I am thinking:

Why should they have to "fess" up to it? The post would speak for itself, right?

So, if the post wasn't stupid then maybe we could show it to a mod and they would remove the point and hit the giver with it (and an explanation of why) this might really reduce the abuse (not to make more work for the mods..sorry)

I wouldn't know..I have only ever seen it like this and I assumed the whole board was like this. I misunderstood that only the contributor level could see who gave karma points.:eek:

Well, I currently can't view any karma comments, but that may be from clearing everything and starting over and no one has hit me with any karma since then.

And is your Karma power a direct relationship to your reputation level? Either I just never noticed Karma Power before, or it's new.

Used to be anyone could see the comments from karma comments in the user CP... you just had to be a contributing member to be able to actually leave karma for someone.

But to see WHO left you Karma, you had to be a contributor level - at least to see the negatives (and maybe the positives).

I did understand what you were saying. But my point was it can be more likely that abuse of the karma system is used if the vindictive ones know that their "prey" can't identify who they are. I don't think Rich or the Mods need the added work of having to review who is issuing negative Karma and deciding whether or not it's warranted. That sounds like such a pain. :ack2:
 
As of right now Im not a contributing member... prob because when I click the link it says I dont have the authority to be here (or something along those lines)... I figure it has to do with post count or something.

Anyhow.... I just recently recieved karma.... and I can say this... I have NO idea who sent it. I have no comments as to why I recieved the karama... I just know which post they clicked to send me karma.
