In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My son told me the other day about a classified system on the internet, Craigslist. I think he looks through for music stuff, several weeks ago he purchased a large record collection in the area from a classified he saw there (we have a record player and I have a record collection also).
ANYWAY
Out of curiousity I looked through it, not really in the market for anything, but just to check it out. *Lo and behold*, there was an ad for someone who was selling their snake collection! :D

Six boas, two ball pythons. This collection *NEEDS* to be at my house; I will update y'all as the adventure unfolds...... It's like the ad was written for me..... :)

Has something like this ever happened to you, where you totally by chance run into some adventure that seems meant for YOU?

YES!! (Can you tell I'm excited?) If everything goes as it should, they will be here in the morning!!!!

BOA**BOA**BOA**BOA**BOA**BOA!!!! :dancer01:

I just recently was looking through the Trading Times. I was looking for something completely different then the ad that just happened to catch my eye. It was an ad for Leo's. The deal sounded too good to be true but it turned out to be the real deal. I ended up picking up all 16 adults (3 males and 13 females) for a great deal (actually a steal). :dancer01:

No Fair.

Every time I "stumble" on one of those ads, I'm always the person who "just missed them, someone JUST walked out the door with them 3 minutes ago".

Hmph.

Congratulations

Good deal guys.
I never seem to make it with these deals always 10 min. late LOL

Here is the next chapter in the adventure:

The guy arrived with the boas and ball pythons and he and my son took the enclosure out of his truck and then he left.

The nice triple tier solid wood enclosure, which he made. is wired with heat lamps and lights on a timer, was VERY heavy. I could not budge it. My son (what a great kid) decided to buy me a dolly for my birthday (which is tomorrow) so with that, we FINALLY got it in the house, I bet it weighed hundreds of pounds.

I am now up to my eyeballs in oodles of boids. He had them all in the three tiered enclosure and so I am spreading them around to some of my spare enclosures before deciding which ones to keep.

There is a little guy boa, he said he has had him for years and he has stayed little, maybe 2 1/2 feet.
On the other end of the spectrum is a *MONSTER* nine foot female, and then several other hefty girls and guys as well. There were 8 snakes in all, 6 boas and two balls.

What a grand Mom's Day!! What a terrific adventure!!!
I have decided that Craigslist is a *GOOD* thing.... , and so are spontaneous snake adventures!!....:)

congrats...I guess you guys got the luck of good people...I've only gotten bum deals and ppl who I talk to and settle things with and then don't respond ever again

Rachel, I am hoping that you are blessed with some good deals and good adventures soon. :)

thanks...I kinda gave up on keeping up with those ads but still looking for a job through there

If you like, you might tell us more about the job hunt, there is lots of collective experience here and perhaps we could make suggestions that might help. If we could do that and got to help you because of your post, this Craigslist adventure would be doubly awesome!

thanks
With some reptile knowledge, I don't know of a place to apply to other than pet stores here and $7 an hour isn't going to cut it.

I finished an internship in an art gallery in Dec. and assistant positions in galleries are so few and far btwn. Though this job was pretty much secretarial so I've been looking for those positions as well.

I have a BA in Fine Art/Computer Ad Design and a MA in painting. I haven't been around the comp programs in such a long time that I'd have to go back and refresh some. I'm most comfortable with photoshop, some illustrator. I don't remember quark really.

Tomorrow I'm going to apply for a job in person for painting on ceramics. I've done that for fun before and would love a position doing that. I need a lot of luck.

And good luck to hoping all my snakes eat tonight wouldn't hurt either.

Rachel, just an idea, but with the education you have, some additional teaching courses might make you eligible to be an art teacher. Houston Independent School District has recently posted several art teacher positions with entry level salaries of $35-60,000.

I know it is not for everyone, and these days, teaching is more difficult than ever for a variety of reasons.
To me, teachers are one of the groups of people that are deserving of much respect and honor, as they take on the difficult task of helping to prepare the next generation to take their place in the world.

thanks...I did assistant teaching in art for a few years but know I don't want to do it full time...
the place I applied earlier in the week and is taking applications all week...I won't hear from them until next week...I would love that job but finding a job now is so hard...it's a perfect location also to take a brush up course in comp graphics
