In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello,
I bought 2 crested geckos yesterday. First I would like some help on IDing the morphs. Also, I would maybe like some guesses on ages? And last, I was told that the spotted one was a female and the other one a male...but it looks like the spotted one has a little bulge, not as big as the other one, but it is there. Please help!

Okay... Here's what to do...
First-make sure that the tank is setup properly.
Second-DO NOT HOUSE THEM TOGETHER-yet
Third-Both males and females have hemipenal bulges at this young age-which is probably about four or five months old
As for the morphs: Are these pictures taken under a UV light?
Next, the "male" is probably a dark fire harlequin or similar (fire/harlequin)
The "female" is probably a multicolor dalmation. As I've said in other morphing questions:search "crested gecko morph index/list" on any search engine (try multiple engines for best results)
If you haven't already, sign up for REPTILES Magazine-this month has a brief list of crestie morphs. Go to reptilechannel.com to order a pdf of this month's issue.
Hope this helps.

These pictures were just taken in regular light..I just got them yesterday..I have the tank set up and everything. I only have 1 tank because I thought they were male and female..so I thought I only needed one..lol..but I will seperate them ASAP..I know the one is some sort of dalmatian but I don't know about her color..it looks reddish/orange in some light and then just brown in others so I'm not sure but I don't think I have seen them fired up yet..the other one is really dark colored..I know he's a male for sure..there is a big bulge and the little white things on each side are very big..where are on the other one the bulge is small and the white things are very tiny.

Thank you so much for your help!

Yes, separate them ASAP. They WILL breed if kept together, and unless you are fully prepared to incubate, hatch, and care for 12+ hatchlings (they lay a 2 egg clutch once a month), you need to keep them separate. Plus, the male may 'pester' the female too much, the female may become aggressive, etc.

Do you have a good gram scale? If these were kept together beforehand, and are staying together right now, there is a very good chance she'll already be gravid. You'll want to monitor her weight, and if she also happens to be too small for breeding, it could get pretty tough. What are you planning to feed them?

As far as morphs, it's hard to tell with the pictures. I suggest getting pictures in natural light (by a window will work). Get pics of both the top and sides of the geckos.

They are eating Crested Gecko Diet at the moment. I am planning on feeding them that and crickets once a week. They are about 7 inches long from head to tip of the tail so I'm not sure how old they are but I was told they are about 8 months old. I do not have a scale...where can I get one?
I will try to take some more pictures tonight for the morphs.

Thanks!

You can pick up a gram scale at most stores (Walmart, Home Depot, etc.). They are sold to weigh food/ingredients typically.

FWIW, the "morph guide" in that recent Reptiles article is just one breeder's take on the subject and includes several "morphs" that are not accepted by the Crested Gecko community as a whole. (She could call them "breeder lines" if she wants, but IMO they aren't "morphs" per se- ie "darkfire," "sorbet" etc- those are names she made up herself for her own marketing purposes.)

Hard to say for sure from your pics but I'd guess the first gecko is a flame and the second a patternless with some dalmation spotting?

Sorry about my mistake about the "morphs". You can also get a postal scale at most stores that sell small apliances (i.e. Staples). You should post more pics.

Thank you! I will post more pictures tonight. I will hold them this time and get a picture in natural light.

Thanks again!

Here are some more pictures..sorry a couple days later than i said!
