In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Okay, so i am actually a very experienced keeper, however I am new at the Terrarium construction thing and had a few questions/comments.

1. I am (for whatever reason) getting like 90% humidity in my tanks. They have adequite ventilation, and a paper towel substrate....BUT are definately "solid" (glass/plexi) with some plants, so humidity is held. The 1 particular one that i am referring to is a 10-gallon vertical conversion that I made. It has large holes in front for plenty of ventilation......but humidity is saying 90% day and night. POSSIBLY, I MAY JUST NEED A NEW HYDROMETER IF ITS 90% IN THE TANK.....and honestly thats what it says it is in a ZooMed tank also. Please leave thoughts and comments. (pic of the tank at the end of post).

2. Will high humidity like this be detrimental to my gecko's health, even if there is proper ventilation? This has been discussed before in forums, but theres never a good answer (except ideal 70%-80%......"but can get higher"). Thoughts?

3. Ideas on how to keep great humidity in my terrariums, while living in California?

PS- Temps are PERFECT. Not an issue there a all.

PSS- My setup looks like crap right now!!! Due to bad things happening at our old place, we had to just move here and it still isn't all coming together yet. Also, I know it isn't the prettiest tank and that I am not the best photographer.

I was also planning on getting more plants in there (and cleaning the tanks for god's sake!)......however if humidity is too high, I may want to hold off on more plants.

How often do you mist the enclosure?

I have the same problem, but its not the worst thing in the world. Rather be humid then not humid.

Try aiming a small lasko fan at your enclosure for 30min to drop the humidity, or limit your misting to one wall of the enclosure.

I dont think you need to drill anymore holes that is frustrating.

Wow...old post and a new answer haha. Awesome!
I have drilled LESS holes in all other enclosures, as well as limited misting to 1 wall, and it has worked great so far. temps are at 80 +/- and humidity between 80%-90% with a slight drop at early morning (I use a flukers hydrometer). Any advise?
