In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Heres an update on my Yellow tail I bought a week ago, he is finally putting on some weight, he is no longer dehydrated. His attitude is usually calm, he has only strike at me twice and musked me once, but he was unusally grumpy that day.

This is his cage with a homemade lid that locks into place. The weights were a temp. thing.

He's a very pretty snake!! You certainly don't see many of them around!
No kidding! I don't even know what it is, but it sure looks pretty cool. :hehe:

*That's a pretty nifty looking tub you've got him in. Can I ask what kind it is? I need to find some bigger ones kinda like that.

Thanks for the compliments! That is a rabbit cage actually, they are quite exspensive ($40-$70) but well worth it, they are also made of hard plastic.

Looking good..

That guy/gal looks a lot better than it did in the initial photo you posted.
Keep in mind, you will need MUCH better ventilation and I would suggest keeping it on unprinted paper for the first few months, as doing so will make it easier to identify any external parasites the snake may harbor.
Also, YT’s are extremely active snakes, so it would be wise to consider much larger accommodations in the near future, though what you are currently using would suffice for the quarantine period….

Best regards,

Jeff

Thanks Jeff, I had it on newpaper for the first week and got a two fecal deposits from it. I am going to the Vet soon to have a look with some fresh samples next go around. I will keep that ventilation in mind for his/her's next cage and add some more to this one. It doesnt move around the cage much either, I am home all day and always checking, so far it has chosen to bury its self in the bark and hide for the most part. I have been misting and checking temps and all are good. Maybe once it fully aclimates it will be more active? What size cage do you think would be good next?

Sounds good!

Sounds as though you have everything in check, just make certain your veterinarian is aware of the nephro-toxic susceptibility to Sulpha-based medications Drymarchon spp. tend to harbor, should he / she determine medication should be utilized.
For now, the smaller enclosure will assist in making your new Dry feel secure, though the minimum dimensions I would recommend for an acclimated, adult Drymarchon are 6’L x 3’D x 2’ H.

Best regards,

Jeff
