In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

SOLD!! Crotalus Horridus 3.5'

This snake was hit by 2 cars near my house last friday as I was trying to shoo it off a road. I captured it thinking it would die and it is still very much alive.

It is injured but seems to be doing fine. Lost it's right eye and had a ding on it's belly but I've been treating them with neosporin and the belly ding is gone. Sex unknown, all but 2 rattles broken off in the car accident.

Would like to sell or trade for non-venomous snake (anything pretty and very docile). [email protected]

I am in AL where there are no regulations governing indigenous rattlesnakes. Pick up or meet only.

Pic taken saturday - the bruising on the right side of head is all but gone now.

Good eye.

Uh oh - did I do something wrong?

You didn't do anything wrong in my opinion...I would just try to give it a few mice to eat...Make sure it's eating properly...If so then just drive it out into a wildlife management area and release it...I'm sure it wouldnt be the only wild snake missing an eye and the rattles aren't really a necessity.

Just my own opinion but seems to me that if you are going to pick up an injured animal on the road and then try to trade it for something else the least you could do is take it to a veterinarian! The poor thing must be in EXTREME PAIN and probably has infection setting in.
I dont care what the laws are near you, that would just be the humane and ethical thing to do.

Yeah - it's getting active again. Probably close to feeding time. I had 2 of these before, 1 for five years and one for three years. The second one was a preemie baby cut from the mother by a bushog that ended up being 5.25' long.

I have an 11 year old in the house now and am not interested in building a proper enclosure that I would feel comfortable with. He wants to keep it but I would rather him have a cool looking corn snake or maybe a smallish boa.

Are you listening at all? Take that animal to a veteranarian and get it some treatment.

Geeze, what the :censored:is wrong with you?

There's no infection setting in - it's healing quite nicely.

I'm in Alabama. There are no hot vets anywhere around here and the common consensus (yes, even among veterinarians) is to chop it's head off with a hoe.

There are many members here on Fauna and some are from down your way. I am willing to bet someone could locate a vet you could take that poor animal to.

sooo.. you see nothing wrong with taking an injured animal.. and selling it..

class A kind of guy..

oh, and it looks fine.. so it must be fine.. no internal damage or infection..

riiiiiiight

Dumb a**

And they would treat it with nesporin. Is there a point to any of what you're saying?

I didn't cause the injuries to the snake - I stood in front of it and waved both vehicles around it - only to have both of them swerve back over and intentionally run it over.

I'm the one who got it out of the road and treated it with topical antibiotics thereby saving it's life.

Find a vet within 40 miles of 35173 that will take a hot snake, call them and arrange to pay their fee and I'll get "that poor animal" (who happens to be alive only because of my actions) right over to them.

Well I was planning to keep it at first because I felt sorry for it but my family will not leave me alone (with the exception of my 11 year old stepson) about killing it.

I can delete this add and put it back up in a month if that would make people happy.

Somehow I suspect some of you will not be happy no matter what I do because I happen to have an animal that's been hurt.

it is because you are selling it.. bring it to a wildlife place, or sell it free

don't think of yourself as a good Samaritan because you are just trying to make a free buck off of an injured animal

THAT is why people are not happy

You dont get my point? Ok well I will type it slower this time. THE ANIMAL NEEDS A VET.
I never said you hit it but you are trying to profit from it.
So you know for sure that there are no members here who would vet that animal? Boy are you sadly mistaken.

That's cool - I can just let the wife take her hoe to it. No skin off my nose.

Here I was thinking that being honest about it's condition would garner a few points - I truly am a dumbass.

I truly am a dumbass.

That is the first intelligent thing you have said!
Even though I wouldnt personally cut its head off, at least its suffering would end. You are not a vet yet you declared it to be fine and try to trade it off for someones healthy, cbb snakes.
The saddest thing is that you just don't get it, still.

:iagree:

 more skin off your nose than you think.
