In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry cvexotics

According to the story (sorry I know I"m a 3rd party), Scott urged Josh to steal the snake to begin with....

I guess I misunderstood your post as well... But by saying he's still a good guy... I guess our ethics differ.... I would never buy from somebody who KNOWINGLY bought stolen goods.... That is a violation of my ethical/moral code if there is one....

CV exotics may have quality animals... but after this little debacle, I don't think I would like them to have my money.

i will no longer be buying from him either but people still will i buy all my snakes from Kevin only bought a pin and a black pastel from scott and go in there every now and then for rats but he does have a clean facility and quality snakes that does not diminish what he did.

I pose a question how many people have bought a snake online? do you really know where the person you are buying from did not steal it. like i said in my post on kingsnake it happens more than you realize in the reptile industry they just do not get caught.

I happen to know someone who UNKNOWINGLY bought a stolen snake. When he found out about it, he immediately tried to give it back to the original owner and take a full loss on the $$$ spent on it. (The owner graciously allowed him to keep the animal since she felt it wasn't his fault).

That is an ENTIRELY different situation than KNOWINGLY buying stolen property with the intent to make some HUGE profit on the deal. (Either from reselling the stolen animal, or selling its offspring) And very likely (no proof, but viable speculation) he was behind the theft in the first place. There is simply {NO justification for that...at all. I don't understand your desire to sugar-coat the issue the way you are trying to do.

:iagree:

not sugar coating anything, i think you are just going over board it does not effect me in any way, does it effect you? remember there are three sides to every story, 1st party, 2nd party and then the truth. just stating my opinions agree or disagree i still think he is guilty and should get what he deserves! i just do not think he should get 7 years for buying stolen goods when a guy beats his wife i front of there kid gets off.

I walked into the store as the guy who sold the snake to Scott was leaving. I didn't see the transaction, but I did see them leave the store, and I heard the discussion between Scott and his employees after. From what I heard, Scott would have been deceiving his employees if he knew it was stolen. They were looked like they were pretty suspicious to me.

I don't know EXACTLY what happened between the thief and Scott and if Scott knew the snake was stolen, but from my dealings with him, and what I saw on that day, I'd be surprised if he knew the snake was stolen. And that's really the question as far as him being a good guy or not, isn't it?

EDIT: "They were looked like they were pretty suspicious to me." should be:

They were looked like they were pretty suspicious of the thief to me.

There is no doubt he bought the stolen snake, and you are right the question is did he know it was stolen? only he knows that answer. as far as being able to tell one morph from another or what a snake has in it for combos who can honestly say they know exactly what is in every morph out there and if you say you can your lying to yourself and every one else. Nerd does not know what is in some of there morphs when you get into multiple genes it is tough to know what is there. if you have never seen something before you could very easily mistake one for another take the axanthic killer bee as a baby and the black widow put them together you would never know which one was the axanthic its only until they start to shed a couple times that you can see the black widow gaining yellow. Well what ever happens in a few years he will be back people forget.

My question for those of you who are questioning whether or not he knew it was stolen is, how many people have axanthic killer bees? Be honest, how many people have the combos to make axanthic killer bees? And where would this random guy(the actual thief) be getting the $$ to buy one, only to resell it for 1/100 what he paid??
Use your heads. He knew this kid got the snake dishonestly, I feel like this is cut an dry. It's not like he bough a piebald or something several breeders have.

Can you tell the difference between the axanthic and black widow from what i was told when they raided his shop they could not figure out which was the snake he bought. I know i few people that were there the day it happened one being a former employee of his.

That's a picture that I TOOK the week that this(not necissarily the one in question) NERD axanthic bumble bee HATCHED. Can you tell the difference??

honestly no, have not seen enough of the axanthic killer bee but a hatchling black widow is white and black and looks very similar pattern is not as reduced. but i do not breed axanthics nor have the desire to. like i said earliier three sides to every story nerds side, cv side and then the truth as far as i am concerned he was found guilty by the jury then he should take his punishment. Niether party is perfect or hasn't had there share of scandels.

Really? Do you really think that Scott, who has been in this industry for some years, thought that the value of that snake, on of only four produced was $500? Really? And wasn't the LEAST bit suspicious? I smell tuna.

Couldn't tell ya. I'm very much a noob in the herp world. I'm just talking about what I saw in the shop that day, and what it looked like to me. He has told me that he saw it, knew it was something unusual, but didn't know what it was.

Only Scott knows what really is the truth, but it's not like either possibility is impossible, is it?

Maybe Kevin knows the truth too? Just saying.

How could Kevin know if Scott intentionally bought a stolen animal or not?

Personally, I think he would have been nuts to buy an animal that there are only a few of, and the others are a few miles away with a guy that you don't really get along with. Doesn't mean he didn't do it, but it sure would have been a stupid thing to steal...

Apparently the facts were compelling enough for the conviction. If you want to read Kevin's side, it's on the KS thread linked above.

I have no doubt that Scott knew exactly what he was doing.
