Please HELP Call out a scammer!!!!
I am asking for help and not criticism. I was recently scammed by a guy named Dale, I do not have his full name but I do have his phone number. – 1-219-310-5067 I would love for the reptile community to put pressure on this guy so he knows that what he did is not exceptable. Please help me identify him, full name, address and email. I do not want him to scam others. Please call him, text him, tell him about this thread and get him to respond.
He said he lives in dyer Indiana.
Turning 40 soon
Had a baby on Christmas
Is more into fish than reptiles
His new wife has a prairie dog
He has dark hair probably about 5’ 9”
Drives an older Durango with rust around the wheel wells and is dark blue.
Recently sold or traded black throat monitor
Here is what happened:
I saw a craigslist ad (he deleted it immediately), it was something like this;
Snake collection for sale – listed 6 snakes - 1 boa – 1 king snake- 1 milk snake – 3 ball pythons (fire, bumblebee, yellow-belly) - 1 rack 4 bins high – and 1 herpstat. Pics of everything and all animals looked like hatchling and the quality of the photos was not great but nothing looked alarming.
I contacted him thru email first. Here are the email’s:

Can you text me. It is a lot easier to communicate thru txt.
630-401-9916
o Nothing too exciting
o Next were txt messages-I can't get these to load! I will keep trying.
o Then we agreed to meet at the Tinley Park convention center. He was very nice on the phone and seemed very trustworthy from our conversations.
o I arrived first and he pulled up next to me at about midnight. I work 2nd shift and he agreed to meet me after work.
o I told him that I had shoebox containers for all of the snakes and he insisted that we just leave them in the bags that he provided.
o The colubrids were in plastic bins and looked healthy.
o He then showed me the boa which looked healthy as well and he had the sand boa in the bottom of that bag. He said,” oh yeah, I forgot I had him so I threw him in as well.
o Then he showed me the fire which looked good and to be a health weight.
o The bumble bee was next and he was careful not to pull him out of the bag just showed me the top third and I saw him moving and his tongue flickering.
o Last was the yellowbelly or pastel yellowbelly. Very quickly flashed the top third and tied the bag.
o He then immediately started to talk about the rack. All the tubs were installed and he discussed how one had a divider and pulled that drawer out and showed me. They were all lined with news paper so that I could not see that the tubs were melted. He was very calculated about how he showed me everything. It was very intentional to deceive me and he played his cards well. I quickly loaded everything and we did a little small talk and I drove home. I immediately started to set up the snakes and that is when I started to realize that I was scammed. The pastel yellow belly was dead and the bumblebee and the sand boa were in terrible shape. After I set them up in there tubs with fresh water I started to inspect the rack and that was when I noticed that it was melted. I still have not tested the stat to see if it works. I texted him and he made no attempt to contact me since the sale was made.
Please call, text this guy and put pressure on him to explain his side of the story. He should give me a full refund and consider this a rescue and not a sale.
I realize that I was too trusting and should have taken my time to inspect everything but I never imagined that someone could do this. Honestly the money is not what is important right now. I truly want this guy to be exposed for what and who he is. I tried to give as many details as possible if there are any more question please feel free to ask. Try to be understand and not judgmental. I know I could have prevented all of this if I was not so trusting and ignorant to how evil others can be. If you chose to help thank-you!
Lastly I would ask that you do not respond to this post unless you wish to help.
Thanks,
Troy Meyers
