    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was made aware by a friend of mine that a scammer was attempting to use my business name. This is the actual Fins Feathers account, positive BOI feedback and everything. He does look very familiar, so must come into one of the stores.
 
Thank you Tom for commenting. It is very apparent he steals/uses names at will, sorry he chose one similar to yours. Now you know what he looks like, be sure to say hi to him for us if he pops in again.

You may be interested to learn that he had a closer username back in 2009 (FinsFeathersPawsClaws)....and that he used your website & images in his scam attempts. After numerous account bans, he finally got "smart" and tried to work behind the scenes.
 
I remember an incident where someone called the store asking about a tortoise that we were supposed to have for sale. Needless to say, we never even had that tortoise available. This was way before I was a part of this site, or knew anything of the BOI. If that was the same incident, its nice to know what the guy looks like. Ill make sure to keep an eye out if he comes into the store.
 
I take part of that back - I believe that the images used belonged to Steven Gill - but, yes, that call was in reference to an ad posted by the aforementioned account.

I work in the Lansdale area. Just for everyone's awareness, on the pet section of Craigslist Philadelphia there was someone from Lansdale selling reticulated pythons, and now another person has posts up saying they responded to a lavender albino retic ad, that it's a scam and the snakes are sick.

I don't have any pictures of the original retic ads (I've seen them the past couple of months, but they seem to be reported fairly quickly now if they're still being posted at all anymore) but attached is the response claiming the ad is a scam.

Note: there is a juvenile purple albino retic ad that is still active on CL from Lansdale, but I'm not sure it is from the same person. The ads I remember were for older snakes.

I emailed the person who posted the warning asking if the seller could possibly be Mr. Costello. I'll post here again if I get an answer.

Why do you think that is Dan Costello? (If you don't, why post in a thread about him.)

I'm not saying it isn't possible; but Dan is a scamming thief...actually sending a reptile - even a sick one - isn't his style.
 
I suppose it is a reach. It was the location specifically that I made the connection over. My thought process was that if he does have a collection (as opposed to using other people's pictures) he may be changing his methods or advertising on a more local level now that bigger markets like Fauna are catching on. I'll admit, I jumped the gun. I just found it so coincidental that there would be two scams running out of Lansdale around the same time frame. In retrospect, it's entirely possible the seller didn't even realize the snake was in poor shape and it wasn't a "scam" at all.

I want to make it clear that I'm not accusing him of the misdeeds on the CL ad - I just wanted to provide the information in the event it did line up with the information others had dug up.

Hhmoore - How should I have handled this? Should it have been an Info thread of its own, or should I have not posted at all until I had more information? Sorry for derailing the thread!

It appears this Dan Costello has been screwing people for years. I for one am going to take the fight to him now rather than just "read about it". He hangs around the same crowd my cousin does, which isnt a good one. I have mutual facebook friends with him and im prettty sure he passed away yesterday from a drug overdose. I couldnt remember why the name rang a bell until i came back on here today and saw the name again. I have a screen shot on my phone of the post the mutual friend put up but i cant figure out how to post it from my phone.
 
Amanda, can you contact Dan (Fangthane), he is a master of posting screen shots. Either way thank you for the information. Lets see if we can verify it now from some outside source.
