In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi All!
I looked for an already existing thread, and couldn't find one, so...

I purchased a male wild-type CB Chinese Beauty Snake from Dan last month. To make shipping a little more palatable, I had him throw in a WC female yellow rat snake.

I have to particularly give him "kudos" for the WC female yellow rat snake, as she is completely parasite free and feeding on frozen/thawed like a champ.

The male Chinese Beauty is a bit flighty, but I have faith that he will settle down in time.

Both remain in quarantine, but are doing very well and I couldn't be more satisfied with the purchase.

Thanks Dan!

If you actually did search for an existing thread about him, I guess I now have another reason to hate that the search function won't accept three-character search terms. There are numerous threads about just how worthless Dan Scolaro is - in every conceivable way. Having his collection linked with the spread of IBD is just one of the many wonderful things that Scolaro is known for.

I didn't know his last name until now (assuming we are talking about the same person), but when I searched for "DTS Herps" (before I made the deal, and today when I was going to add to an existing thread) I received nothing from the search.

I will, of course, read the threads you posted, but all I can speak on is that one deal.

* the link you provided lists a LOT of threads, but none of them (at least by title) mention Dan Scaleros....
~Beau

*Edit 2
I take it back, there are 2 threads that mention him near the bottom of the list.
Never the less, neither came up when I searched for "DTS Herps".

The link I posted shows 5 pages worth of results. There are 7 threads that reference "DTS Herps" on the first page alone. No idea what you're seeing. :shrug01:

I'm glad you're satisfied with your purchase (atm), consider yourself lucky.

Also, if someone wants to jump on me because I purchased from him, go ahead.
I stand by the statement, that when you type in "DTS Herp", you don't get any obviously relevant threads come up.

At this point, it is what it is. The search function limitations make it entirely plausible that you didn't know. As an added buffer between yourself and scammers, I'd suggest also running a Google search on those with whom you're considering doing business.

Tip: when you have short words next to each other, put an asterisk in between them and you get a better search result set.

Searching on dts*herp brings up plenty of results, while searching on dts herp does not.

The search function requires specificity. If a name is misspelled, there likely won't be matches. Same for using one vs two words; or herps instead of herp. As shown above, using an asterisk in the space between short or common words ties them together for a more effective search.
Dan may be much maligned here - as much for his behavior as his history of problems - but there's no doubt that he's had many satisfied customers.
Best of luck with your new acquisitions.

Had I researched him before purchasing my west african gaboon from him, I probably would not have bought from him. But I can say the snake is healthy and I've had zero issues with her, and the transaction was smooth. Maybe I got lucky. As to why I didn't research before buying, I really can't say, as I always have before and since...

I approached Dan several years ago about getting a group of hatchling G.oxycepuhalum. Over the course of a couple phone calls he told me he could get me what ever I wanted but insisted that I pay up front before he would even send me pictures of the animals that he supposedly had! What a joke! You are very lucky to have gotten anything but crappy customer service from him. I hope you QT'ed your animals and had fecals done.

Well, this was the first time I ever purchased a WC animal (at least to my knowledge), so I immediately took in fecal samples for a run up. Both came back clean, but I am keeping them in quarantine regardless (as I would for any new animal).

Just to clarify...there has never been anyone who has stated that Dan does not sell a lot of good animals and have a lot of good transactions. Dan's catastrophic character flaw is how he handles the 5% of his transactions that are not perfect.

In Dan's twisted little mind, any problem with the transaction is the fault of the buyer, fate, the weather, God...anybody but him!

A quick run through virtually every thread on him on this site will bear that out.

The short answer is "buyer beware". if you have a problem with Dan...YOU ARE SCREWED!!!

Dan sent me a nice pair of Oxyrhopus rhombifer and some lizards to get them started on. Everything was shipped overnight, in an insulated box with heat pack, and looked great upon arrival. Dan wrote me several detailed emails explaining their care and feeding. I would give Dan an A+ for price, shipping, communication, and providing a rarely bred species of snake in good health.
