    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Not only did it come with the Respitory Infection it came through the regular Mail express and took 2 days after he stated he ships next day!! He even stated that the clerk told him it would take 2 days and he still sent it!!! Ive tried repetedly to contact him, and we WILL NOT RETURN ANY E_MAIL or messages. He was on here last night and i sent him messages to contact me concerning this and he just ignored me then left.  Listed next is the last e-mail i sent him--

Dan I'm still waiting for a reply. as I stated to you in a message on fauna today this is the last time i will ask you to step up and take some responsibility, You have until tomorrow morning to reply to this message, from that point I will turn you in for Internet fraud and post the fact that you are not living up to your guarantee.... I'm not playing around here I've been burned too many times by people like you and the buck stops here. You sent me a very sick snake and you must have known it because you wont even reply to my e-mails.
I'm sick and tired of paying out good money to people in this business who only want to make a quick dollar and run like hell.. I've lived up to my part of the deal and obviously You have no intention of living up to your part.
Its people like you that cause people like me to never purchase another snake over the web again!!  and if I post this on fauna I hope your never able to sell anything to anyone again!!    John Ohio Herpatarium......

i just returned home after being away this Easter weekend and found these messages on the board. i DID reply to john but he apparently didn't see it in time and posted. the emory rat i sent him WAS sent next day! that's what express is john. why it arrived w/ a respitory infection [?], i do not know. i've had that snake since it was born and it was always healthy, very vigorous and a great feeder.....aggressive as a matter of fact. i DID NOT  send out a sick snake! and i DID respond to your emails on sunday morning as soon as i saw what was going on and i have to say i think you jumped the gun here a bit john. we are talking about a $45 snake that you said arrived w/ 'ri'. even if this is true, it is easily knocked out w/ high temps and a vet visit is not required, especially since it would have to been in the earliest stages as that snake left here in the same condition it was always in........perfect. i want to thank you john for giving me my first ever bad post even though i told you i would return your money and you could keep the snake. i have only your word for it that the animal was sick yet was willing to make things right to keep the peace and you go ballistic. well handled john! i wish i could say it was pleasure doing business w/ you but as it turns out, it was anything but......thanks again john for ruining my prior perfect record over a $45 snake that i intended to just give you just to keep the peace.
 
Dan...Don't worry about it! He hasn't ruined ANYTHING for you! You ABSOLUTELY did the RIGHT THING!! I've had that done to me a couple of times already! I send a PERFECT snake, when it gets there, they say it's either, mite-infested, or RI, or skinny, or you name it! It really gets me upset! If it's a cheap-enough animal...I do EXACTLY what you did! Give them their money back and let them KEEP the animal! If it's an expensive animal, I have them ship it back to me (at MY expense), then I give them a FULL refund!! I Just will NEVER do business with them again!! I just hope it was worth it to them!
Dan...Don't lose ANY sleep over this! But, you are right! John jumped the gun BIG TIME!! John....why couldn't you have waited, AT LEAST until you heard from him BEFORE posting this??? YOU KNEW it was a HOLIDAY weekend??? I think that STINKS!! I just hope it was worth it to you, too! ....Neil
 
Dan, you're way too nice! Refund without seeing pics of the "sick" snake at least?? Us Italian New Yorkers would never hear of such a thing. I mean, I make good on my animals...just have to show me some proof.
      I idon't care if you're looking for $45 or $4,500! We as breeders have to protect ourselves as well! It's one thing if you know the person, but complete strangers??? I will make sure I avoid selling to this person. Thanks for heed, Dan.
 
First off as soon as I heard from Dan I tried to post it and have the web master remove the ad but he would not, and secondly Dan was on here Saturday evening and I sent 2 messages to him to respond to me and he did not! I then contacted the web master, in hopes he would also talk to Dan through a message since he was on here. He told me he will not interfer with other peoples sales. And Yes the snake is sick and it took 2 Days in the Mail not 1, As soon as I can I will gladly send a copy of the Vets statement to Dan. And all of you know that R.I. is contagious, wether the animal had it before the trip or not is NOT my concern, its the faCT THAT HE DID HAVE IT WHEN HE ARIVED. And $45.00 dollars may not mean much to some of you But its money i worked hard for , and it does matter to me. Neal maybe I did jump the gun a little, But as i said Dan was in here on Staurday and did not respond to me. Im sure that can be verified in some way or another. It was at that time I sent out the e-mail saying if he did not respond to me i was going to post this in here. You seemed to be freinds with the web master find out if Dan was here Saturday and see if I sent him those messages at that time asking him to PLEASE NOT IGNORE ME!!!! Maybe you need the whole story before you jump on me!!

John, You're kidding me, right?? I had an email sent to me on the 27th of March, and I JUST GOT IT TODAY!! It happens! You say you emailed him on Saturday...he didn't respond...you post a derogatory response on Saturday evening??? Do you think MAYBE he left for his long HOLIDAY weekend BEFORE he got your email??? You couldn't have waited till Monday to CALL HIM?? It wasn't only jumping the gun, it was very tactless!
And then...without even waiting to see what Dan would do...you take a $45 snake to the Vet?? Am I to suppose, you expect Dan to pay the Vet bill, too?? Once you put a post on here...IT STAYS!! This is how things you don't think through can come back and bite you in the ass! AS IT DID! Another lesson learned?? ....Neil
 
Just because someone's name shows up in the active members list, doesn't necessarily mean they are sitting in front of the computer looking at this site.  You all will likely seem my name there almost all day, but that certainly does not mean my eyes are glued to the screen.  I usually just leave the system running all day long and have this site opened in one of my browser windows as I am doing something else, either in another browser or am over in the reptile building wrestling with corn snakes.

And in many instances, I may come over here for one reason or another, and just shut down the system (for instance when a thunderstorm is heading this way) and will not check for new messages.  If I had been planning on a trip, it's entirely possible I would have shut down the system, then headed out the door.

Always try to give someone the benefit of the doubt.  People have lives (at least I heard somewhere about this..) outside of this message board and outside of the reptile business they are running.

As mentioned in another thread, the blade cuts both ways in here.  Be careful how you use this forum.
 
you know, i was gonna just trade that snake for mice at one of the local pet stores but along came a 'buyer' at the last second. hind sight being what it is i wish i just traded. in all the deals i have been involved w/ thru the years, i have never seen anything like this. all over a rat snake no less that i offered to reimburse for on the buyers word. john, if you had only READ your email instead of just coming out blasting, all this whining and aggravation could have been avoided. and for the record john, i WAS NOT  in here on saturday, my brother was. i was out of state until this morning. had you read your email [instead of just totally slandering me] and quit playing perry mason for a half a second, you would had seen that i had already set the deal right, sight unseen. you have BLOWN  this WAY out of proportion and COMPLETELY OVERREACTED john. even you gotta know this by now. in view of your continuing bickering and whining........return the snake now if you want a refund. my original offer has been recinded! then i'll do w/ it what i was gonna do in the first place. btw, thanks neil and ac for your support, it is much appreciated! i'm gonna go take two aspirin now. whew!
 
Dan....As you know...you ARE right! ....BUT....once you make a promise to someone....you should NEVER back out on it! No matter HOW MUCH John angered you, a deal is a deal! PERSONALLY, I would just send him his $45 and be DONE with it! You'll get him out of your hair and you'll be doing the right thing! Just mark it off to experience and move on....

I don't think it's so much the "clique" problem as it is nearly impossible to have a 100% satisfaction rate. So a vendor is given the benefit of the doubt until both sides have been aired. The one thing is you didn't give the vendor time to react to your situation (a. weekend email, b. less than 48 hour turn around). The other thread where the vendor got vendicated by the "group" here, the purchaser tried to be sneaky. After that came out no one cares that he was right (in my opinion he was) because his crediability was destroyed (by his own posts).

No John, I think more often than not, this site is accomplishing exactly what I had hoped for.

When you look behind you and notice that no one is following your lead leaving here, you are welcome to turn around and come on back.

I just hope you learned something from all this.  There is no crime or stigma attached to being wrong.  All you have to do is to admit it (when it applies to you), take your lumps, and then be a better person because of it.  Everyone here has erasers on their pencils.
