HAIRSPLITTING, LOL? I have to respectfully disagree. Why would Lucille not welcome the chance to set the record straight? Should those who dishonerably shoot the messenger and protect the "bad guy" not be held accountable and given the chance to right a wrong? Whether the post is a month old or a year old, people will still be reading it in an effort to critique Dan's business ethics.I have expressed some support for a few of the early positions that you took in this thread. I admit to some surprise at this latest post, both in part because of its length, what I have to call hair-splitting commentary, and rehashing of months-old posts.
And she continues to defy reasoning and leaves her position unanswered.Lucille took heat for a few of her posts back then, and without looking I recall taking issue with her on a couple of those.
I never claimed to be a writer. I am not here to entertain an "audience". I am here to make a VALID point, which so far no one has addressed, as I predicted. If you deem my post "irrelevant", by all means just come out and say so. I disagree. Restrained? The fact that there are people who might not take it "seriously" is a testament to what is wrong with this industry. Some of the keys to good citical writing, especially in open forum, is to be somewhat brief, so as not to lose audience, somewhat timely, so as to be relevent, and somewhat restrained, so as to be taken seriously.
The guidelines of a writer? Perhaps. Your guidelines? Perhaps. It is not always easy when we are passionate about our concerns. But it is necessary, lest we allow ourselves to be easily dismissed. In all earnestness, I think you violated all three guidelines.
With all due respect, I wasn't asking for advice, nor do I feel I need any. Where do you see a flame war??? Is that an attempt to tag my post as a "flame starter"? Your statement alone could provoke a flame war where it doesn't exist. There is no reason why Lucille can't answer those questions civily, as they were asked civily. My advice would be to also realize the futility in flame wars, public and private. Been there, done that, and know of which I speak.
I would agree with that in some cases. Not here. I noticed that you, like Thacker, have engaged this thread without entertaining one issue presented in it. With all due respect sir....The concept of a need to get on with things, and move forward, is very time-tested. It is often excellent advice to heed.
