Like I said, the details are not included in this thread. And I guess I should have put them in there, but that takes much time that I do not have.
Perhaps my standards are too high, but receiving what might be termed a DOA is a far cry from receiving a stinking diseased ridden corps. And his intentionally willful advertisement of a snake as being healthy and flawless, and sending a rotted, dead, and diseased corps with a stub-tail is another. Maybe that is acceptable to those who sell these snakes, but it is not acceptable to me.
Have you ever had your expensive collection exposed to a dead and diseased ridden snake? It might be acceptable for you, but it’s not worth the worry if you ask me.
After Serpentboy received my snakes, he had the upper hand as he had my snakes and I only had a diseased exposed to my collection. I was not really interested in getting my snakes back as they might be exposed to sickened conditions or contagious disease at his place, and with that uncertainty, I was not willing to take the risk. If you think otherwise that this kid did not plan this scam for days, then your kidding yourself and behaving naïve and asking to be taken yourself.
And he knew I would not want them back especially after seeing the diseased ridden dead coral snake. When I yelled at him for just a few minutes, he easily broke down and conceded that he sent the dead snake. He then pleaded and begged me to not report him to kingsnake.com or other authorities and offered two baby hognose snakes. Since I was forced to agree to his terms to get anything back from him, I kept my word and did not report him. After I recently discovering that he tried to rip some lady off by not sending her a snake with some other snakes she purchased, I checked his integrity, and he acted like he had amnesia over the whole incident and he still cannot get his facts straight and maintains to drag people who were not involved in the situation to further his cause of damaging his competition.
Before you go analyzing the fact that he did offer to send the snakes back, consider this: Would you want to take the risk of receiving snakes back that might be or most likely be exposed to the same disease or diseased conditions that the coral snake was dead from? Maybe you would, but I would not. If you were the customer, would you happy and even settled enough to discuss these terms after opening a box and being knocked down by the stench of a dead snake that suffered and died from a very contagious disease and now some kid used the corps for a snake sale? Would you be happy that the air from that stinking dead corps is now in your house and might have spread to your collection? Maybe you might, but I was not. Some people who receive shipments from overseas might take those conditions as everyday work, but I was not happy with the condition of the snake. Was I willing to risk receiving my snakes back that may have been exposed to whatever this disease was at his house? Not really, but maybe some other person would view it differently, but for me, it was too much of a risk. Even if my snakes were not exposed to these conditions of a disease, I was not satisfied with his shipping container or methods he shipped and I was not willing to risk the lives of those snakes again by permitting someone I did not know who proved to be a con artist ship them in a small thin cardboard box that was previously used many times with weak sides to it with two balls of newspaper.
He paid for the snakes at half their value because that is only what I could get out of him besides flesh. He walked away a successful thief and he eventually sold my snakes at a higher price.
Please do not take this as it is not meant to be personal, but if your still not getting it, then perhaps you might be one of the reptile dealers that are warped into the idea that sending a dead snake is acceptable as long as you pay something for what they sent. However my personal standards are higher than that, and I was his customer and he had to satisfy me, no one else, especially since I wasted money on phone calls discussing this snake and he said it was his personal long-term captive that it was healthy and eating snakes.
I have an idea. Send me three of your kingsnakes, and I will send you something from my freezer but I will permit it to stink for a few days before I send it. Or better yet, perhaps I might able to locate a snake which has died from a contagious diseased which is now rotting somewhere with a good stench and I will mail it to you in dilapidated thin cardboard box. After you send your kingsnakes, and then receive my dead and diseased snake, I will offer to pay you half of what you could have sold your snakes for. And I will ask you to be aside your feelings that your snakes are now potentially exposed to this disease. On top of it, I will admit to you that I set you up in the first place and sent that dead snake to you. You have the choice of accepting my nickels and dimes for the snakes or get nothing because I am here and you are there, and what are you really going to do about it? Call the police? Go on this forum and ask some of these other criminals for support?
All because he paid even a dime for them does not relieve him of the fraud that he utilized the Internet to advertise a snake as being healthy when it was already dead from a disease. The fact that he did pay something for them at a very low price does not relieve him of his thievery. Perhaps to some it might, but not to me, and not to the law.
I don’t know, but perhaps some people in this business think it’s a fair deal to send a dead snake as long as they get money for their snakes, however he only paid for them at half their value and used the dead corps of a beautiful creature to pull off his scam.
Perhaps I am over sensitive to the health and well-being and husbandry of reptiles and my standards are higher than most? Like I said, I have nothing to loose or gain in this mater, and I am actually more so bothered by the fact that the coral snake suffered enough in the care of this kid and it did not deserve to have it dead corps used in a crime.
The only thing I ask is if this kid will admit to the public on this forum what he did and also state that he will learn from it and not rip off another person again. Again, email me and I will be glad to speak with you and give you more details.
