    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

On July 10, 2018, I responded to an add placed on Fauna Classifieds by Hilary Garnica, user name MissHissGarnica1, to purchase an unsexed trio of California mountain kingsnakes. After I sent the money (660.00), I didn't get a timely response to confirm that she received it. I did get a phone call from paypal wanting to know if I had sent the transaction, which I thought was odd, I told them I did. On my paypal receipt, it says the email address associated to the paypal account was Daniel Garcia. I sent a message to Hilary and asked who was Daniel Garcia and that I got a phone call from paypal wanting to know if the transaction was legit. Hilary said it was ok, and that Daniel was her boyfriend. I looked Daniel up on the B.O.I. and he has one single good guy post. I asked when she could ship the snakes and she said on Thursday. Well, by late Thursday afternoon, I got a message from Hilary telling me that she left the snakes in the car too long and they were not doing well and if I would file a dispute with paypal, she would have it approved. Ever since then, I have received no communication from her, and I still have an open dispute. Good thing is, I have buyer protection since I didn't use the friends and family option. Never use that if you haven't done business with the person before.

I will have to issue a refund for now. I left them in the car while at work and they aren't doing too well. I will hold them for a couple days and see if they do better. I do not have the refund option on my phone app. Please request it via paypal through the resolution center and I will have it approved.
 
I think it is very suspicious that PayPal allegedly called, I would call them and discuss this entire issue. Do not let the seller convince you to close your dispute until you have cash in hand.

I wonder if there ever were any snakes. Who leaves snakes in a car while they go to work?
 
Here's the caller ID, hope this clears up that Paypal did not allegedly call, they did call. I won't drop the dispute either, I'm going to escalate it if my money isn't returned very soon.

Hilary garnica n her bf

They scammed me also this week for 460$ for trio of arizona mountain kingsnakes. Sent money for trio via PayPal . Kept asking for photos and to call me but never did. I thought maybe just worked a lot so dismissed but was warning sign. Hilary sent me message stating she was going to ship out Thursday morning or on lunch for Friday arrival . Thursday evening I get a message stating she had snakes left in car during work and weren't doing so good she would issue refund. She stated she didnt have refund option on cell phone? To go threw PayPal and she would accept. Did that and guess what still nothing. Tried messaging threw facebook as these crooks are stupid and easy to find. No answer but was read. Filed claim with PayPal now waiting until they refund money to try and find another pair of mountain kings. Dont bother anything w them they are pos scammers that are ruining the herping community
 
CORRECTION!

Daniel's last name is Gonzalez, not Garcia. All apologies for screwing that up. Could the admin correct the spelling in the title of my original post? Here's what he looks like.

Did you do a BOI search before buying from this person? You know, before sending money to a random internet stranger?

Did you do a reverse photo search on their classified ads before sending them money?

Before we get into the blame someone else game, I suggest first taking personal responsibility for your own actions or lack thereof.
 
While we are on the subject of "Hilary Garnica", I'll toss in my two cents and suggest that there is no such person. Hilary is a sock-puppet only.

The facebook page accredited to 'her' looks entirely bogus for various reasons. The name "misstwisty" is a porn site. Etc.
Did either of you even actually speak to a 'female' or was it all via electronic device/text?
 
Can u read?Where did I say was fauna fault? Its nobody's fault but the pos scammers. I simply stated something they could possibly do so that buyers could get ahold of a seller as a last resort should they not answer.its just a thought they can take it and use it or leave it where it's at. That simple. But thanks for putting your two sense in appreciate it!

The scammer tossed out the bait. It was your choice to clamp down on that bait and "immediately" send them money without doing your due diligence first. Who is to blame? Both of you.
 
You are absolutely right. It's a learning experience that's all. My money is protected I never send friends and family so is what it is. Not going to cry about it. If my mistake can help someone else great. At end of day there the ones losing out as they now put out my 460 plus whatever anyone else paid. It happens wont be first wont be last that's why this page is here right?
 
As far as it being our fault its definitely not out fault tho that there are some individuals that need to scheme on others as a way to get money. I have a job I'll have more money and a refund in a few days but by me posting this hopefully no one else will get caught in his traps n they will have to resort to selling there body on the corner

It sounds like it was not her email address associated with the account, therefore not her account, therefore she would not have the authority to approve anything unless she is Daniel.
 
I think what Robert is saying is that we still have a responsibility as buyers to properly research sellers prior to money changing hands.
