Daniel Haney/The Constrictor Zone sent me IBD

This is going to cost me $2075 because Dan told me if I post here and kill what's left of his pathetic Reptile business that I wont get any refund. Like he ever intended to send me anything in the first place, he was just stalling to move more sick and diseased animals.

Several months ago I did a trade with Dan before he hit the headlines big time here. There was one bad post about him but I went against my better judgment and I sent him a pair of Boa Morphs for an Arabesque Boa het Albino because I really needed the Arabesque gene. I explained that I had an extensive Boa Morph collection and asked him repeatedly if the snake was healthy and mite free and he assured me it was and was pounding small rats for him. What a joke.

I shipped first and sent him two healthy robust animals, an 04 DH for Sunglow male from my Coral Sunglow litter and a yearling Type II Anery male and he shipped back to me a couple days later. Right after he shipped he calls me to tell me the snake may have mites because he JUST noticed them all over his collection. The snake showed up that day ice cold with a dead heat pack (actually a hand warmer good for 8 hours tops for an 18 hour trip) and just a terrible packing job. It had a stuck on shed and looked skinny. I called Dan right away and he told me the snake just soaked and defecated and that's why it looked skinny but was eating like a champ and he didn't notice the stuck on shed. WHATEVER. I didn't believe him so I took it right to my Brothers house to keep it far away from my collection. I set it up there and it looked terrible but it did eat a fuzzy a couple days later so I figured I could get it back in shape. It puked up the rat the next day.

The snake ate pinkies a few times over the next couple weeks and shed and looked better but not thriving. Then I got a call from my Brother that it died so I swung by and picked it up and dropped it off with my Vet for a necropsy, it came back positive for IBD.

I called Dan and he first tried to deny it but after a screaming match he broke down and admitted that IBD killed most of his collection and he sold off what he had left alive to recover his money, what a guy. He promised me a refund for the full $2700. I felt bad for him tried to work with him and told him since I produced the DH I traded him I would take $2075 because that's what it would take to replace the Arabesque het Albino gene for my collection, a female was all I could find. He e-mailed me and told me he sent me a money order to my job site address. I build new houses and had my 5 guys keeping an eye out for the mailman for a week, never showed. I called Dan again because he refused to answer e-mails now and he told me the money order was returned to him. After another screaming match he admitted he never had it and never sent it.

This guy is just a total P.O.S. and tells nothing but lies from beginning to end, we need to do what we can to get rid of a parasite like this. I filed a complaint with Kingsnake and had someone else he screwed over do the same, one more and he should be banned over there. If anyone else has been screwed by him I ask you to file a complaint with KS and see if we can shut this guy down for good.

I just called Dan again for three days and he finally answered. I told him I go to Florida every year and was going to show up at his house to collect my money and he told he I would end up with his 45 against my head and leave in a BODYCAST, lol, what a friggin moron, he cant even threaten people right. I'm shakin Danny Boy.

I should have posted this sooner because I see by his add on Reptiles he just sold another sick Ball Python to a guy named Joe, sorry Joe.

I couldn't imagine doing that to anyone.

What about the rest of your collection? Is this thing isolated from everything? It could potentially infect all of your animals.

He threatened to keep your money if you exposed him? That sucks.

What the hell is wrong with people.

I hope nothing else gets infected and you get some type of compensation. I know if it was me, I would be on a plane tomorrow.

My collection is totally isolated and safe.

I've been doing this a long time, The Arabesque never came to my house. My Brother lets me quarantine snakes at his house till I'm sure they are OK, I'm in an apt. and I wouldn't trust quarantining anything here, it's not a big enough place.

See if you can get into contact with that Joe guy. I HATE to see when peoples collection get screwed like that. I new a guy who got IBD in his morph collection. Wiped out everything! Anyways, if I ever got IBD I would never ship out my reptiles that way, its not even the money that your screwing people with (on that particular snake). Its the fact that you could even be screwing up his collection that might of took him years to aquire! I do sympathize with Dan, but by shipping animals knowingly with IBD is just awfule.

If your reading this. I know how you feel about getting some of your money back. It must have really sucked. However doing what you did is unnaceptable in todays society. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.....

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation Steve but I am happy I did not go through with a trade I was going to do regarding the yearling type II anery. Fortunately someone else beat me to it but I feel sorry for whoever it was and anyone else that may have potentially brought IBD into their collection. You can bet that if Daniel had a problem with both IBD AND MITES that the disease could have been spread throughout his entire collection. I hope this message gets out to everyone out there that has done business with him.
I sold him an adult male hypo a few months back but never took anything in trade or bought from him. The fact that I didn't end up with the anery is a blessing. Of course I would have quarantined the animal but still may have ended up losing it down the road if it was infected with IBD. Thank you for coming forward with this information Steve. You've taken an important and bold step to warn everyone.

Steve I'm sort of curious as to why you waited weeks if not months to go public with the results of the necropsy on the snake you got from dan. You had to know he was shipping sick snakes, didn't you?

It REALLY sucks that you got taken by dan, there is NO debating that.

I apologize to everyone for not posting this sooner, that was definitely my mistake and I hope it didn't infect anyone's collection. I did contact a few people that Dan told me bought from him as references privately to warn them in the past few weeks. I waited a couple weeks because Dan told me the disease killed off his WHOLE collection and I didn't think he had anything left to sell. He's proved how he is on here in past threads and I knew I wouldn't get anything if I posted this sooner, he kept telling me he wanted to work this out. I saw his adds again on kingsnake so I came and posted here.

I see Dan was just on here reading this, I guess he's not interested in replying.

I was looking for the thread Dan started himself blaming someone for sending him IBD but can't find it, he admitted on here to having it in his collection.

dan, you really should, at the very least, post a list of everyone you sold to so that they as well as any possible future buyers will know what to look out for.

If I started putting money on my hunches, I'd be rich.

Let's see...

1) Dan Haney makes a claim of IBD against Lynn Peterson

2) Dan swears up & down they were totally quarantined (so no one would possibly think that his collection was infected)

3) Dan forgets to mention that he ships 2 snakes back to Lynn AFTER he supposedly got the IBD report but somehow forgot to mention the IBD report to Lynn

4) Dan gets caught in a lot of inconsistencies

4) Dan promises to post the vet report to back up his claim but then decides not to because he is questioned on his story, and finally

5) Dan tells everyone on Fauna to "f*** off", then bounces back with a new partner and business name.

I knew he was trying to lay the groundwork to blame someone for a problem in his collection. It didn't work, so he went ahead and unloaded everything he could.

What a piece of work.

There are so many of us who work very hard at choosing the perfect animal for our breeding projects and a looser like this diserves to be tarred and feathered. I hope that a list of buyer's does come to light with as many brokers that buy and sell, those animals could be any where now. Good luck on getting your efund, but if I were you, I'de be making plane reservasions.

I'm obviously not privy to this actual conversation, but if Dan did say this, or that is what he did even if he is unwilling to admit it, that would make Dan one of the biggest pieces of sh!t......... the BOI, and the Reptile Community has ever seen seen. Period. Without a doubt.

It's funny how these worthless pieces of crap people try so hard to fit in and/or cover up their misdoings, but when they start to slide into the sewer they think that all of us are; the groupies, the losers, the followers, etc.

I believe this guy was trying to unload all his snakes at one point because he was buying some investment property? Hmmmm....kind of makes you wonder. Hopefully everyone's collection was quarantined.

It would be nice to see some documentation, like the necropsy results. That way there won't be any question about the wrong doings that seem to have taken place.

Sorry I don't have an actual Vet report to post because I have been using the same Vet for my collection since 86' when he opened up his own practice and he's become a customer and a buddy as well. He gets the occasional free Boa Morphs and I get free medical, with up to 100 Boas at times (45 now) it's the only way I can afford to get them the expert care they need sometimes. He even just offered to neuter my dog for me when I'm ready because he wants a little Hypo female I have. As for e-mails most of the latest stuff was done on the phone when I could get a hold of him because he started ignoring my e-mails.

This guy is just the scum of the earth, the worst P.O.S. I've ever dealt with. I remember his BS story about selling off his collection to buy property, yea right, more like a disease sale. I stressed to him over and over again I had a high end Boa Morph collection including Coral Sunglows I produced which are real special to me, a pair of Motleys, the male a poss het Albino, Jungle and even an original Harlequin Orange Tail Hypo from the first breeding of them and he still knowingly sent me this disease. I take real pride in my animals, the ones I sent him were flawless gems and I can't stand the thought of either of them meeting the same fate as the Arabesque. I'm just glad I knew enough to quarantine or I definitely would have driven to Fla. locked and loaded.

Hey Dan looks like most here agree with me and would take the flight in a heartbeat to collect the $2700 you still owe me. You owe me money and threaten my life when I tell you I will come to collect it because you wont send it. Hope to see you in Daytona Danny Boy, they won't let you bring your 45 in there, lol, lets see if you have the guts to crawl out from under your rock and show your face. I doubt it, I'm sure by then I won't be the only one looking for you.

This cost me $2000 to post this so take it as you will, if you want to deal with Dan after this don't say I didn't warn you. I think tar and feathers is too good for a guy like this.

As much as I agree with you about Daniels reputation and actions, you still need to provide proof.

If you're so willing to hop a flight to collect your money you can spend much less and have a vet inspect the remains and post the report here. I'd like to believe you, but I've learned no matter how bad the situation may point in one direction you should always have proof in hand before stating such things on a public forum that thousands view. Get your proof, and come back. We'll be waiting.

Is it possible for your vet to do the test in his office? If the liver sample was sent to a lab, as is most likely I would think, then there would definately be a paper trail to show where it came from, what was done, and the diagnosis.

Confirmation would be helpful.
