    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I really didn't want it to come to this but enough is enough. In October of 2012 Danny Mendez stole an adult female leachie from me. I sent it to him with the agreement that he would send me an amazon tree boa when his animals had some babies. He then said he would send me a rhino rat as well when the weather warmed up but I never got anything. First year went by and he said they slugged out, no big deal. Next year came around and he said he had a baby for me and was waiting for shipping weather. Suddenly a year and a half later he states that the leachie had died from unknown causes. I tried to work with him on it, as before I sent her to him, he was aware that she previously had a medical issue that she had surgery for and was completely ok with it but knew he would need to monitor to make sure it didn't re-occur. I tried to find out if that was what caused her death but never got a response. He said he still had a baby for me and would send it. After that I didn't hear from him for a long time. I told him I wanted to get squared away at the March Tinley show, that's when things started to get nasty. He stated I sold him a sick snake and was trying to take advantage of him because he listened to someone who has been spreading lies about me for years. He stated that the animal died of septicemia, which anybody who knows anything about septicemia, knows it only takes weeks to kill an animal and not a year and a half. He also stated that a necropsy was never performed. At Tinley I saw him and said I wanted to speak, after being ignored the whole show he finally stopped and spoke to me for less than a minute. He stated he never has time to answer fb messages and to call him (which I've tried on multiple occasions). He assured me that he was going to make things even with me. The whole year passed with nothing. Saw him again in October a couple months ago and he never spoke a word to me. Sent a few more messages after that with no response. At this point, I have a hard time believing that the leachie ever died, as there was never any evidence provided. I no longer want an animal of his and I just want to be paid for the value of mine. This has so far been posted on facebook in feedback groups, Danny has been contacted by a few moderators and has refused to respond to anyone.

I purchased an ATB from Danny in 2009, that transaction went fine. I bought another ATB that was from a project that only Danny and the person (Mike H) I bought from were in on. I've tried contacting Danny a few times over the years to get more info on that project but he never replies, so I'm not surprised by his general lack of communication. It's disappointing. I hope he makes good on his end of the trade and sends you a nice ATB from his Sick Sorbet line as he originally stated he would.
 
I personally dislike him. I will admit that before continuing on to the rest of my post.

I feel that he places the likes/attention he gets on his Facebook page far above the welfare of the reptile community. He often intentionally starts drama for further attention, good or bad. He already knows my feelings on this, so if he shows up here I doubt he'll be surprised to read it.

My feelings are that he is out for himself, end of story. All of his actions are based on whether or not it benefits him, regardless of whether it's the right thing to do.

I hope that he makes things right for you. I would never trust him enough to buy from him, after so many years of watching his behavior on Facebook.
 
He seems to travel a lot. He can afford that but can't afford to keep his end of a deal for 3 years? He had the leachie for a year and a half before it died. He should have made good on his end of the deal way before the leachie died. If it died in the first week I might be able to see not owing the op but over a year? He needs to send what he agreed on and then some to make up for the years he's made the op wait for what he was promised.

If that was representative of his demeanor and behavior, I'm honestly shocked his BOI rap sheet isn't longer. Probably would be, but people are very reluctant to start "beef" with big time breeders... afraid of some imaginary, non-existent black list or something.
 
If he was a stand up guy he would just make good. Unfortunately it's been so long that you probably won't get anything. If he is anywhere near as big as he thinks he is, he could have taken care of you long ago. I don't see his bee is and butthead show really earning him too many people willing to help him out or be on his side. As others have said, it was not an animal he recently received, he even says how much his kids loved playing with it. He got it, he let it die (regardless if it could have been saved, shows ownership of animal at time of death), he still owes his part of the trade.
