In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This guy posts snakes, mostly RTBs, on CraigsList all the time, all over D.C., northern Virginia and Baltimore. I know it's him because tattoos don't lie. 
I almost got taken by him; he posted an ad for a pair and made it sound like a desperate rehoming situation (snakes, tank and all). He gave me a good deal if I would come right away. I made arrangements to go get the snakes within two hours but he didn't respond to my requests for directions. The next day, his wife/girlfriend (not sure which) e-mailed to tell me he had to suddenly leave town but would get back with me soon. Then he called me several days later to tell me his brother accidentally sold one of the snakes I was supposed to take, but he had several others to choose from. Then he e-mailed pics of three more. At that point I smelled a fish and backed out.
I've seen many more ads on CL by this guy ever since, and wondered where he was getting these snakes that he seems so eager to dump. Now I know.

First, let me say thank you to you all for the wonderful words. I'm just happy I could help.
I send David Huffman an email last night requesting the money Lance and Aaron are out for shipping. David responded to the email today, he said he is starting a new job next week and will take him a few weeks to pay off the shipping. He told me when he gets paid he will send me the first $100 payment. I will keep everyone posted as he pays off his debt. On another note, Aaron has asked me if I could try selling his boas for him. I have agreed, and will try and sell them for him. I'll be posting them for sale soon.

I told David, he had better not let me find out he has done this to anyone else, and if he knew what was good for him, he would not do it again. I was fairly nice the first time, next time... not so much. People that scam others make me sick, and make me react in not so nice ways. I truly hope he has learned from this, if not I'll be there to see he makes it right.

lol, i didnt look at the date, your right. im thinking if he would meet you face to face, then i dont think we will see the shipping money from him....would be nice tho'

I told him he could send it to me by PayPal. I made it clear that the deal was not done until the shipping was paid. I don't think he wants the officer showing up at his door again.

What a horrible story that mirrors so many others that go unresolved. But not this one, this one has a happy ending. Congratulations Lance I am so happy for you.
David Vincent Means (go topless) thank you for being such a stand up noble person and went way beyond what anyone else would normally do. You acted in the most selfless way and I commend you for it. There are way to many scammers out there getting away with murder, as the internet is the new playground for scammers, con-artists, thieves, scum-bags, and degenerates. It seems law enforcement is one step behind internet scammers and in some cases pursing any legal action is just not worth it.
But it is people like David Means that will make them think twice before the enter our community to screw someone else over. There will definitely be more lowlifes trying to steal from us, that is for certain. But if we stick together as a community and help one another out as David did we can at least cut that number way down.

I too was scammed by this guy. I "traded" my 07 indian X burmese python for a lav albino reticulated python. I was going to ship first on the trade. Then when my snake arrived and i asked when he was going to ship, he replied saying the retic should have already been there. That's when i knew something was up. He gave me some bs stories about his friend loosing the package or something getting screwed up. And it's always i'll get back to you. I'm on it...This started on 5/21/09, still no snake. (retic or burm) Can any of you help me, or do any of you have any idea as to how i may be able to get him back. Or do you think he's lost for good?

sorry but I'm not feeling like reading the whole thread, just thought I'd mention... he said he shipped the snake thru the usps correct? and that he did not label the package as live animal correct? and especially since the usps has a strict no snake policy this a clear violation of the lacey act.... I would tell him that he needs to make it right before you report him for violating the lacey act, it is a crime taken seriously and if reported I doubt any company will take shipments from him in the future which would certainly help keep him from scamming anyone else.

still maybe the threat would be enough to get back the snakes that he sent, if he has shipped anything thru usps and they get a report they would surely investigate.

Thank you David, your help is really appreciated. I don't think this guy wants the cops coming to his house again. After you called the scammer for me this morning, he e-mailed me, i told him i wanted my snake back and he seemed very cooperative. David comes to the rescue again! It sounds as if i am going to get back my Indian X Burm! ...This guy should def be reported so there is no chance this can happen to yet another person. Thanks David.
