In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

David Van Houten, Logan Enterprises. Use extreme CAUTION!

I tried to read the link at the Corallus site, and it said files were missing or some such thing.......

As far as the BOI is concerned, the only reason I was checking it out was I got a call out of the blue from xxxxxxxx asking if I was pissed at him for some reason. I couldn't even remember what I had sold him or why I would be angry with him so I told him so and to stop being so apologizing for something I don't even remember. He went on to explain how someone else I don't even know says I don't think he has a great rep. I tell him I don't even know who this guy is and don't worry about it. Then I decide to go check out the gossip going on, as that is all I believe goes on there anymore, and see my name brought up. To sum it up, when that girl produces albinos for you don't feel it necessary, nor do I want you, to post anything up there for me as nothing good will ever come from putting anything up there, pretty much the same reason no one really ever posts anything significant on Kingsnake's boards unless they are relatively new and trying to get their name out there. Nothing but negativity will come of it as there are way to many people just looking to start trouble and have nothing better to do with their lives.
In my opinion. This makes me nervous, if he thinks only bad will come of a good guy post, I am thinking he must have caused problems with others he does not want people to know about. Not just here but kingsnake also, being as I have heard of contention between Fauna and KS, he must have upset a few people all around. It looks as though he is afraid someone will come forward with information that may not be pretty.

Can anyone post a brief synopsis of the Corallus thread? I cannot find it.

Brief synopsis: just the way he conducted himself when replying to questions :censored:

Regards

Casey, why did you post this? Is this a joke or something?

I have a "100% het for albino" ball python purchased from David Van Houten, Logan Enterprises 10/10/02. The animal was
"hatched out 7/02 and is the offspring of an albino male bred to a normal female ball python, therefore carrying the albino gene".
This is the statement from David Van Houten on the certificate with a picture of the ball python which I received in 02', the statement will accompany the ball python if you purchase her.
I successfully bred her to a proven het male during the 04'/05' season, and produced 8 normal looking babies.
Last season (05'/06') I bred her to an adult albino male, and again produced 8 normal looking babies.
David Van Houten assures me I am having bad luck, and unfortunately offered me no guarantee. Therefore I can not guarantee her genetics.
She has produced 8 healthy babies the last 2 years in a row, so she will probably need a rest before breeding again.
She is for sale for only $5081.14 shipped via Fed Ex. What a steal! Thanx....

Wouldn't she only be worth about $1500-$2000 now?

I think the ad is more of a way of letting eveyone know about David Van Houten and his so called "hets" and he just used a crazy price in it.

KS doesn’t let you notify consumers of potential problems with individual sellers. Casey had no intention of selling the “het” (cough, cough) at that price. It is more of a warning to other prospective buyers that David will not back up his animals.

Believe it or not I have had half a dozen offers. Nobody wants to pay the $5,000 though :) . I feel guilty telling people I am not really trying to sell her.

Yes it was
Dear Sir or Madam

Your recent classified ad entitled ""het" albino female adult. a real steal" has been removed due to a violation of our Terms of Service.

????? :deadhorse
All you stated was the animal's background, it wasn't even a "warning"... it was set up to look like a completely legit ad!!!!

Do these people at KingSnake have no life??? Do they not value your membership?? (why are they not addressing you by your name, or atleast your business name... (you know how 'nigerian' 'sir or madam' sounds???)

I feel so disillusioned. I was planning on signing up for an account to sell some of my animals on there too, but if they are so bent out of shape to protect scammers at all cost, I do not want to associate with them, or give them my money. :throwup02

Sorry this was so off topic... I just can't believe my eyes at the kind of reply KingSnake had sent you. :no01:

I'm guessing somebody whined to "the powers that be" on KS.......truth hurts, I guess. Sheesh.

To Kingsnake's credit,

They avoid conflict like the plague. While KS quoted you that particular clause of their TOS, they also have a clause where you cannot mention the name of another entity in your ad without the expressed permission of that entity, regardless of its nature. David could have used that as a basis to have the ad pulled. You can register a complaint against any vendor regarding any transacton that was a result of an ad there, but that won't really draw any reasonable attention until 3 unresolved complaints are booked. On the upside, you did get a few responses, and your replies to those folks, as well as just the chatter and gossip of the internet, will get around somewhat.

Someone had a thread in the KS BP forum about it also, it had maybe 1 dozen replies before it was deleted the following day.
I noticed the ad had more than 200 views on Friday the day I posted it. I renewed it Sunday but did not notice how many views it had, but I would guess several hundred before it was deleted.

Why would that be to their credit, Jim? Differences of opinion aren't bad. Properly handled conflict isn't bad either; often that is what leads to the truth.

Lucille,

Why would that be to their credit, Jim? Differences of opinion aren't bad. Properly handled conflict isn't bad either; often that is what leads to the truth.

"Properly handled" is the key word. We could debate this forever. We both know of "properly handled" debate on the internet, and we both know of "improperly handled" or "unfair" debate. We could look at the same thing and have two very different opinions about what is fair and unfair, reasonable or otherwise. Kingsnake deserves credit in my view because they are consistent (ie "fair") in applying specific policies to all, and are very clear about where the line is drawn. Like everything, all such policies have their "plusses and minusses". IMHO, a policy that requires an advertiser to have the specific written (or electronic) permission of another entity to mention their name in an ad is a very good policy.

While my post talked about their policy with regard to David and the ad, we are now going on a tangent about KS business policy, and is getting a bit off-topic. This policy of theirs is nothing new, and neither of us can change it. We have had other threads here where credible members have rightfully objected to their name use in the KS ads of others. No one need give KS credit if they don't want to, n'est pas?

They avoid conflict like the plague. While KS quoted you that particular clause of their TOS, they also have a clause where you cannot mention the name of another entity in your ad without the expressed permission of that entity, regardless of its nature.

If that's true it's not enforced at all. How many ads do you see of people advertising Ihle boas, Joliff axantics or Walsh GTP?

Regards.
