In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy DEAD SNAKES from Kevin South of The Constrictors Labrynth

I agree with you Harald... it's a huge red mark....and I hope everyone avoids his collection because they dont know what will come into his.

Tears, soo many tears :( fall as I type.

The memories are all flooding back. I remember my hysto report and getting physically sick.

Wendy, my heart goes out to you.

Colorado, my heart goes out to you as well. I remember lying in bed after the day I spoke to Tom Greek, I tried to remember who I handled, did I sanitize my hands? Who should get tested next?

I went over it in my mind so many times, who should get tested? How am I going to pay for all of this? What am I going to do if I get another positive?

I prayed a lot. I cried a lot. And in the end, I did the only thing I knew I should do.

I'm crying for you both because I lost so much in the 3 weeks that it took to do the testing, the sit downs and long conversations with a couple of close friends and all of the "what if's" that come with a decision so big. I still cry reading all of this.

I had 43 animals, 16 were tested, 4 came back positive. I still wonder how catastrophic it could have been if I got zero positives out of the first test group. The lull of the false sense of security feels real safe until the unthinkable becomes a reality.

I hope that every word you have typed here is the truth, I pray that you don't have to make the sacrifice that others have made. I pray and I'll continue to pray.....

I'm willing to bet his collection has been exposed. He needs to either put down his collection or quarantine for at least a year maybe two...nothing in or nothing out during that time.

oops! I forgot to throw in there... now that its determined that its IBD, why arent you guys all pissed off at the original seller....? He HAD to have known that there was something wrong with the snake, and he sold it... Nick didnt know this snake was sick and sold it... yet all the heat is on him????? Again.... the sick snake that everyone is referencing being "Dumped" is the one that died in his care, NOT the snake that he sold us... So the gripe to everyone that he ACTUALLY sold a sick snake is not valid... ;) thanks!

Wendy, here's my perspective, since I was the one that dragged you into things here.

Nick has, before this transaction, made himself a somewhat negative reputation on Fauna, and already had a couple of black marks against him in many people's opinion (mine included.)

In other situations with members of a similar reputation to Nick's, Fauna has seen times where that individual would, in fact, make up a story or lie about someone else, up to and including false accusations of IBD. Why? I don't know. Revenge? Dragging someone else down with them? Who knows. But, it wouldn't have been the first time of a false IBD accusation here.

While I, personally, don't condone Nick's past behaviour, or some of his behaviour in this thread -- specifically continually dodging the question about "I'm going to sell a snake I know is sick"--I DO owe him an apology here. Nick, I'm sorry for accusing you of lying about the IBD when you were, in fact, telling the truth about it.

That said, I'm not going to let the heat "off" Nick for some of his attitudes or question dodging. The IBD diagnosis doesn't make him innocent of other things he's done.

But you're right -- the heat DOES need to be turned up on Kevin, now, too. He has some things to answer for, and needs to do so SOON. I'd previously assumed this to be a situation of "Nick is wrong, Kevin is right" -- I forgot to consider what looks like the most likely option at this point, that they're BOTH in the wrong to some degree.

Nick's not innocent, but Kevin's looking more and more guilty and needs to step up and deal with this. His silence is fairly damning in and of itself.

Ummmm one problem. He was saying it had IBD about 2 weeks before it was proven by lab reports. While I hate that the outcome was a positive infection.... dont forget that he was spreading rumors before it was ever proven. He just got lucky that the report stated what he was trying to use to blackmail Kevin out of more snakes.

everyone that has nothing to do with this problem should leave this guy alone the problem has nothing to do with the peanut gallery. the guy has/haad a problem with a supplier and asked for advice not criticism.

So, in the end what I got out of this whole thread is Wendy, Nick, and Kevin all have collections that have been exposed to IBD and none should be dealt with until their collections are proven clean. Dollars to donuts they continue "business as usual" and possibly infected snakes will continue to move through their hands and on to other unsuspecting people...:(

As I said from the start, I would like to know who this reputable seller is that Kevin acquired the snake from because it sounds like a pawn off.

Nick, if you want to start doing the right thing, I would start contacting everyone you've done business with and let them know this outcome before any snakes prematurely leave a buyers quarantine.

I agree. and as of right now, I'm thinking that Craigslist is not a good place for anyone to buy a boa because it is a easy place for those with allegedly tainted collections to dump possibly sick critters on unsuspecting people.

Anytime you bring accusations against someone you open yourself up for scruetny (sp?). If your practices are lacking... then you're going to be made away of it. If you continue to lie you're gonna be made aware of it.

Guess your ok with his way of doing business?

ok... Maybe you need to re-read some of my posts.... There is no "Business as usual" since there is NO business for me. I dont breed, sell or trade, so no, there is no "continue to move through their hands and on to other unsuspecting people...." Watch what your thowing around about people... Yes, i did say that Nick provided me with 3 more snakes, and yes i said that they are all on Q now in a seperate area, but NEVER in ANY of my posts did i EVER say that there was "busines..."

This is a public forum, you do realize that?

Like others have said, time to shut down shop for a while. I won't repeat the questions already asked.

You seem to have some issues with common slang phrases, "Business as usual" means that nothing about any practices would change. THEY would still buy and sell... and as for you? Have you planned on closing your collection? No more snakes in at all, and once all yours pass away, destroying the caging and only then being able to get new snakes?

ok. so are you speaking on behalf of the previous poster? Because if im reading correctly it clearly states, "Dollars to donuts they continue "business as usual" and possibly infected snakes will continue to move through their hands and on to other unsuspecting people..." Sounds pretty "businessy" to me, and not just "slang" since he implied that snakes would be moving out...

Well, they are trying to encompass THREE different people into that statement; two breeders/sellers and you. Do you plan on *never* having to rehome any animals ever no matter what happens? Because if you have to rehome.. they're moving out of your hands, aren't they?

Honestly, I'm surprised you aren't more irate at the correct people. All your animals could very well be carrying IBD now, and you've already seen that it is not a pretty way for an animal to go. Yet you seem to be obsessed over the exact phrasing. Chronic emaciation in a snake is not something that happens in just a month or two, and there is a HUGE difference between "skinny" and emaciated. That the guy who sold you the snake could not tell the difference concerns me. The fact that YOU could not tell the difference concerns me as well.

i didnt plan on rehoming them anytime soon. But having to maybe get rid of them many years down the road because of who knows what is "business as usual." Lets be frank, shit happens. People die, get laid off, etc. So no matter if you own a snake, dog, or a goat, sometimes life doesnt give the chance to keep your animals, and maybe you might HAVE to rehome them, but i dont see how that would be "business as usual." I have pitbulls, and have had to move several times in the last few years, and we even had to remain homeless for a week because we WOULD NOT give up our dogs, they are family... as well as the cats, and the snakes. I hope this answered your question....?

So no matter if you own a snake, dog, or a goat, sometimes life doesnt give the chance to keep your animals, and maybe you might HAVE to rehome them, ....?

Except that you can't do that with IBD, as you'd be condemning the snakes in that new household to the same fate as the one that just died. The fact that you just stated that you would try to rehome snakes from a collection that had confirmed IBD shows that you don't take this seriously enough.

ok.. well, let me try the exact phrasing again. When i got the snake he was THIN, not emaciated. within a month of having him, he just became grossly emaciated... After trying to force feed him as well. I would hope that the pictures that were provided by the original owner of the snake as well as the ones i provided would show the rapid deterioration of the animals condition. Im not a vet, but work in the animal welfare field... i know when an animal is thin, and when its emaciated. Am i concerned about my collection? OF COURSE I AM. Is it concerning? OF COURSE IT IS. Did nick say that he was going to try to sell a sick snake? YES HE DID. However, he didnt knowingly sell ME a sick snake. I can give much opinion about he statements of holding the snake, trying to sell it etc, but the snake he sold me was not known to be sick, so how can i be irrate? If anything, im upset with the person that said "I like to keep my males on the light side." Thats the person that had to have known the animal was sick when he sold it.
